Isles lack pregame; WatchDog does not lack headache
Holy Duff!
I did a post earlier today in response to a couple of items in Chris Botta's new blog that I mostly intended as good-natured blog give-and-take to stir the juices and give Botta some free pub.
I forgot that nothing riles local hockey followers more than comparing and contrasting the three area NHL squads.
Yikes. Both Botta and I are getting bashed over this. I promise to follow up - in the newspaper, even! - with a more carefully considered exploration of the subject very early in the new season, especially the sensitive topic of pregame shows and the lack thereof.
OK? Now let me study my tape of Game Six of the 1979 Stanley Cup semifinals in peace. Good night.

Talk about irrelevant votes.
SHEESH
Who won?
More whining from the Islanders. MSG loses money televising Islander games. The ratings are horrific. While they are obligated through contract to televise Islander regular season games, they are not obligated to televise preseason games or pregame shows. It costs money to televise preseason and pregame shows. People have to be paid to do so. Explain why the Garden would want to lose more money on the Islanders?
Go find someone else to televise Islander games. You signed some ridiculous radio deal because none of the major radio networks wanted you. Good luck finding someone else who would want to televise the Islanders.
Enjoy the money the Rangers give the Islanders. It's the only reason the Islanders are still here. Just don't expect the Garden to lose any MORE money on the feeble Islanders.
Admit it, Ben is really Charles Dolan, right?
Hey Ben:
If MSG is losing so much money, why don't they promote the product or drop it? ANSWER: SNY would pisk up the Isles in a heartbeat and promote it. MSG wants to keep control and beat down the product. The last thing they ever want to see is 1975 - 1984, 10 years of watching from the outside when the boys from the Isle made them irrelevant (excepting when they were eating our dust, excepting '79.).
