Ned Harkness, former Cornell hockey coach, dies at 89
I spoke to Ned Harkness in 1982 when I was writing a history of Cornell hockey for The Cornell Daily Sun, and I saw him at the Garden last November during the Cornell-BU game.
Now he's dead. From RPI to RIP. Sigh.
Thanks for all you did, sir.

Harkness was also the first coach at Union College in the modern era, re-starting the program in mid 70's. He left amid some controversy after 2 1/2 years. (Ranger goalie Steve Baker played for him at Union)
Many felt that Harkness was trying to turn Union into a Division I program, which was inconsistent with the other athletics at the Collage. However, in the early 90's, Union became a D I program for ice hockey.
I tried to interview him when I was in College, but he declined.
