New Yorkers tune in to watch Yanks perspire in Texas

thermometer_100_degrees.jpgI'm not sure what to make of this, other than perhaps that the Mets were off, or that people enjoy watching baseball players perspire in the Texas heat, or that Joba was pitching, or that it was an 8 o'clock start, but . . .

YES reports that Monday night's Yankees-Rangers telecast attracted 6.8 percent of homes in the area (715,000 viewers), making it the highest-rated prime time game of the season.

The rating peaked from 11 to 11:15 p.m. at 8.6 percent of homes.

On 21 of the past 22 nights on which there was a prime time game on YES, it was the highest-rated program in the New York market.
