Bob Papa joins NFL Net; former Giants writers approve
I wrote a Sunday newspaper column about Bob Papa, the NFL Network's new play-by-play man.
Another former Giants beat writer, Tara Sullivan, wrote about him in The Record. Here that is.

bob papa made a huge goof on his call of the tyree catch. he announced that tyree is wide open downfield, the play showed he WAS well covered during the play.this is MAJOR MISTAKE in which all of his media critic cronnies have yet to point out.he deserves some heat for that blunder.since it was an historic play it has to be brought up.509
yes cable guy that's a MAJOR MISTAKE he should be fired, or maybe tarred and feathered...
Gee whiz Neil,
It's a pity Bob wasn't full of the hate that Screech, Cartoon, Russo, and Egosian spread every day.
If he were even a little bit racist, I'd have hired him!
Sincerely,
Mr. Chernoff
Cable guy: Wasn't Tyree wide open initially, and Harrison closed on him late?
neil, check the tape, 2 defenders were actually right with him.(harrison and assante samuel right behind tyree closing in) he definitly was not wide open. look, bob is pretty solid, but that was a blunder of a call in that spot.
Fair enough. Will check it out. Thanks, CG.
cable guy,
I think his call went unnoticed since most people heard Marv Albert's exceptional call of the play or possibly Joe Buck's absolutely wretched TV call of the play that was akin to calling a pre-season game in August. I have acknowledged Papa made his mistake but he is one of the best radio announcers in the business. Also who can forget this quote?
"Roy Williams falls down on the play BUT he's going to the Pro-Bowl!"
