Every time I write about media relations - most recently Joe Girardi's - and try to make the point that in this market such things do impact teams in various ways, I get many nasty comments and e-mails.
The gist of them:
Media issues are irrelevant to winning and losing and only are brought up by self-important sportswriters out of touch with fans.
So I'll just throw this out there for discussion among yourselves:
In the wake of Billy Wagner's locker room blowup Thursday, would you still say that the way coaches and players conduct themselves regarding the ever-present New York media is a subject of no interest or concern to the people you root for, and thus of no concern to you?

All depends on who is writing the articles/covering the conduct.
There are some "self important sportswriters" who's raison d'etre is to write about these things, in fact, create these controversies, in order to draw hits and readers.
Kinda like the article about Randolph today.
It's way too early in the season to be firing managers.
Just because Willie got booed yesterday is no reason to be contemplating firing him. Unless you are a jourbalistic firestarter.
If the Mets and Yanks were both 10 games over .500, no one would care about Girardi's media relations and Wagner wouldn't spout off. I do not care that Delgado isnt talking to the media, I care that he's hitting .222.
Didn't see it, I was in the car, but Wagner needs to keep his mouth shut. Listen to my radio show for more thought on what I didn't see.
Shut it Tubby, Wags was speaking truth to the missing power.
Wait a second Craig. Craig, Craig, CRAIG ! You're lost.
I don't know Francessa....
I'm surprised that you didn't come on here AGAIN with a suggestion that the government needs to start regulating baseball locker rooms and/or what quotes reporters can put into articles.
Government intervention and regulation seems to be your all too frequently posted "cure-all" for perceived issues with "the internet".
Why stop with the internet?
Ridiculous you say?
No more ridiculous than your constant ranting that an inept and inefficient organization (the Federal Gvmt) should"regulate" what until now has been a very successful and efficient instrument within our society.
Listen Islander505, not only is that ridiculous, it's patently ridiculous, ok. You're lost on this, totally lost. LOST !
I know about these things ok. I am stuck here talking sports with mongoloid callers who want to propose stupid trades for the Mets. I am better than that. I am Mike Francesa, do not argue with me.
See that? I am waving my hand. You are cut off sir. Good day sir.
