Now this team is seriously hungry for the Cup--I think only Gomez and Drury had it, the rest Redden, Naslund, Kalinin, etc. never had. I seriously think the only thing standing in the way is the lousy amateurish coaching of Tom Renney.

It would not surprise me if they went after Sundin...offer a 1 year contract, BUT I don't think we could even afford him, let a lone Jags. At this point with whats left in FA Mara coming back would definitely be welcome and then always be able to shift in a young dman with injury or as ready.

I'm liking the speed on this team. I must admit, a little worried about our size up front (Dru, Gomer, Naslund, Callahan, Dawes, Pru) but I guess you've gotta give up size for speed (unless you sign AO).

That useless puke had only 2 goals less than naslund last year.
That useless puke can barely skate and can't hit the net at all. How many times he missed the net? He can't hit, he kills the PP with his terrible shots, only thing he does well is kill penalties, but almost anybody can do that. I hate to say that, because Prucha is one of my favorite players because of his enormous heart and love for the game, (Ortmeyer was one of my favorite Rangers as well, and was sad to see him go).
San Jose signed Rob Blake for one year $5 million dollars. Can we now all agree that Rosivals contract is really not all that bad as compared to other signings?
Also, Fleury signs for 7 years at $5 million per. Can we now all agree that Henriks contract is not all that inflated considering he has THREE Vezina nominations in his first THREE years in the league?
I tend to agree that the majority of contracts are 1 -2 million dollars higher than I'd like to have seen. But when you compare them to what other players are signing for, then you see the necessity of making sure you offer enough to the players you target. What intelligent GM would low ball or even try to hint that they are skimping a little on an offer? You have to make the player feel like you really want them and think they are worth a little more. Otherwise they sign with some other team. Those players that give "hometown discounts" are very far and few between. Even a great and loyal guy like Shanny bent us over for way too much last year and those lame bonuses are hitting our cap this year.

Betts, Sjostrom and Hollweg and maybe Orr better be gone. I don't want them, we got better players. And most teams don't even have any use for a pure good like Orr who can't score and sucks defensively.
Fritsche might be too talented for the 4th line and he is not that great on faceoffs. RW is better suited for him.
Prucha likely doesn't have much chance here either, so it likely is better to move him--Renney hates him, and we have too many smallish forwards.
Jamtin probably will start in Hartford.
So basically we need to trade away Betts, Sjostrom, Hollweg, Orr, and Prucha.
