Live from Newark: A nice ring to it...

Wearing headphones and listening to Czech music ("We have groups like the Beatles, but they sing in Czech" he said), Jaromir Jagr arrived a little after five p.m. and put his fist out to several reporters outside the locker room.

The hunk of jewelry was obvious.

When he emerged to work on three sticks, his pre-game ritual, I asked whether the ring---which he had left in the dressing room---was from 1991 or 1992.

"2008", he declared.

Jagr particularly likes joking with Colin Stephenson of the Newark Star-Ledger, who covered the NHL in the past and has parachuted in for the playoffs.

"I guarantee I'm going to score with this stick," Jagr said. "But I don't know if I'm using it tonight." Stephenson asked about former players Ziggy Palffy and Darius Kasparaitis, and said all the players he covered are gone or in Europe. "And you'll be gone too," he said to Jags.

"Two more months. I'll send you a letter. They don't have e-mail."

As reported earlier, same lineup. Why change? If the Devils win 3-0, maybe things will change on Sunday.

hi guys, remember me? I was supposed to be a 40 goal sniper, but then they decided to sign Shanahan and gave me 9 minutes a game on the 4th line without any powerplay time. I am a good defensive player, but Renney keeps saying I am not and never lets me kill penalties. You used to chant "Pruuuuuuuu!" every time I scored. Now that Sjostrom was brought in I can't even get any icetime at all, my confidence has disappeared, nobody seems to care about me anymore. Jagr kicked me out of his appartment because I didn't want to do it with him. Renney always disliked me because I didn't know what to do. Now I have a feeling when goon Orr gets healthy he will get the spot if there is an opening, not me. Lately I started wondering about Roman Lyashenko...
