If links aren't working...

Some glitches apparently.

If you can cut-n-paste, fine. If not, just go to newsday.com/sports and click onto the Rangers page.

Sorry for the inconvenience. I've sent a note to our web sports editor to set up links to everything from Blue Notes before the season begins Thursday,

I read it in the print edition, good stuff Steve. I'm really interested to see who the finally three cuts will be before the opener.

Set up a new hockey league

It is a YAHOO league that is daily and very easy to understand and play. 16 teams. Head to head. Draft is Autopick at 7pm thursday. I may change it to live pick if I get enough requests.

"It could have been different. If the Islanders' original offers had been accepted July 1, the 1-2 punch every team wants to have on its top line might consist of Ryan Smyth and Chris Drury. Based on his actions, those were the names at the top of general manager Garth Snow's list of forwards, but Smyth went to Colorado and Drury signed with the Rangers.

Four days after the NHL free-agent market opened, the names actually penciled in at the top of Snow's roster board were those of right wing Bill Guerin and center Mike Comrie. Signing a 36-year-old goal-scorer and an undersize center joining his fifth NHL team raised as many questions as it answered. There was no shortage of skeptics ready to suggest that the Islanders' top unit, which also includes left wing Ruslan Fedotenko, should be christened the "Leftover Line.""

Logan hit it right on about those Icelanders!

I said the same thing yesterday, why is Hossa keeping his spot and Dawes does everything possible, but can't make the team?

This confirms that Larry Brooks gets his ideas from me :)

Obviously the reason is that the Rangers can send Dawes down to Hartford without being exposed to waivers, while Hossa would be snatched up on waivers.

Which leads me to the following conclusion.

It's time to trade Marcel Hossa.

Would the Thrashers not love to reunite him with his brother? Considering that they need to sign Marian long term, what more of an incentive, other than money, could the Thrashers entice him to stay with?

Considering the youth we have ready in Hartford, as Brooks says, Korpikoski is next after Dawes, trading Hossa makes more and more sense on a daily basis.

Also, considering Marian is a UFA after the season once again, how about a team who is considering making a run at Marian in the offseason trading for Marcel now?

Nigel deserves to play, and if he does make the team somehow, he deserves ICE TIME, not like last year Mr. Renney.

Trade Marcel.
