Greg Logan is in his third season covering the New York Islanders for Newsday. Greg intially covered hockey for the Trenton Times from 1977-79 as a Philadelphia Flyers writer. He switched over the Bergen (N.J.) Record in 1979, where he watched Bobby Nystrom score the Cup-winning goal at his end of the press box in Nassau Coliseum. Greg joined Newsday in 1982 as the Jets beat writer and later became the Knicks beat writer before returning to a hockey beat for the 2005-06 season.

Hello.
I know that you have been deleting a lot of the most offensive material being posted by Rangers fans on this blog. However, deleting some of it is simply NOT ENOUGH.
I am personally offended by it all, I have been attacked personally, and I feel that the only way to solve this problem is to either:
A- permanently IP ban ALL offenders
or
B- change the entire blog format and require registration
If these things are NOT done, I will no longer read your blog- which is a shame. I like your writing a lot, but that is how offended I am by the disgusting and vile things that are being allowed on here.
Additionally, I will write to Newsday and point out the derogatory, racist, offensive garbage that is being posted daily on a site that represents their paper. This stems back to a fundamental flaw in the entire blog design and setup. Newsday needs to know how the extent of offensive this actually is, and that you alone cannot possibly be responsible for deleting the insane and offensive ramblings of idiots who are intent on harassment, indecency, and libel.
THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE.
As an Islander fan, I loved the Big Win!!! I must also say it is good to have the rivalry back with both teams playing well. My football season is long dead (JETS) so this is the only game in town for the winter.Let's Go Islanders!!!

What ever happened to the Havoc Energy Drink Zone and cheap tickets? Looks like the Islanders are suing Havoc for not paying. Apparently the Islanders aren't the only ones Havoc isn't paying.
Take a look at their latest 10Q in the legal proceedings section:

Is there a story here worth reporting?
Letter from Sweden,
There is a few teams who can name theirselves something like "we was the beginning". Leksand in sweden is one of those teams when we talk swedish hockey.
However, the Leksand Stars, from the very small village have lots of fans around our country and the main goal of the season is to rach back to our first division "Elitserien".
Imagine our surprice and chock... when "The Eagle" showed up!
However... Now, there is too many roumers not to be thrue... Teemu Selläne will join Leksand end of the season!!!

Light translation:
On their way back to "Elitserien" the most powerful sponsor Ejendal says: I would be helpful in any ways and very positiv to that kind of player.
According to SPORT-EXPRESSEN have the main sponsor of Leksand, mr Ejendal and Selänne, have had lunch together on a resturant called (hold your hat) "Brooken Dreams".
Mr Ejendal agreed he was there but denyed any meetings.
More deatails if you wish...
But, What do you say about this?
I say... yes, why not... a nice stay for a scandinavian people. We have only two matches a week and he will come home every evening....
Nice start up if he .... season 2008
Dear Greg Logan,
I'm an intern with startup widget 1000 and I created a news widget for New York Islanders News.
It's updated every hour with New York Islanders headlines from several different sports websites like ESPN, FOX Yahoo, etc. (Take a look: http://www.widget1000.com/)
Can we add New York Islanders blog to the widget, too? That means that every time you post to your blog the headline of the post will show up on the widget and link directly to your post.
Anyone who puts this widget on their start page or on their website will see your New York Islanders posts too. It's a powerful and free way to publicize your site.
Finally, would you add your New York Islanders News Widget to your site so that others can see it?
Everyone who grabs the widget will automatically link to you so it's great for your search engine rankings. Plus, it shows a lot of stories about New York Islanders and since it's updated every hour it is fresh and will make your site even more appealing than it already is.
What do you think?
Go New York Islanders

Time to turn on the golf channel and see the NY Icelanders!

Dear Greg:
This is what I would do to start fixing the Isles.
With us looking at no worse than the 6th pick in the
entry, and by some luck able to win the right to draft
Steve Stamkos.
Here is who stays and who goes.
STAYS:
G - Ricky D, Dubie (on the fence, wont get more than
the 500K he makes now)
D - Martinek, Campoli, Gervais, (Witt or Sutton - one
stays, one gets traded in a package), Meyer, Hillen,
Spiller
F - Guerin (1 yr. at 4.5 mill., does anyone truly want
him. If he wants to mentor the kids, go for it),
Comrie, Comeau, Okposo, Nielsen, Parky, Hunts, Silly
(1 yr. at 2.3 works for me), Bergy, Sim, Brennan
(maybe for his toughness
Coach Nolan - he has one more year to go.
GONE:
G - McDonald, but he could always shuttle from LI to
Bridgeport
D - (Witt or Sutton - one stays, one goes), Berard,
Johnson, Fata
F - Vacisek (could stay if his asking price is no more
than a mill per year, but cant be a top 6 forward),
Bates (has one year at 1.2, maybe he can be a throw-in
in a deal), Tamby (I dont know if he fits on this
team, he could be a piece to major offseason deal),
Satan, Tank, Hillbert, Colliton (Bridgeport or bust,
Keith
Coaches - Both assistants get their walking papers -
PP sucks
To Do:
1. With a top 6 pick - 4 names that I have heard who
might come here are defensemen Drew Doughty and Zach
Bogosian (NY boy) or forwards Kyle Beach and Cody
Hodgson. This team needs an identity up front, need to
maximize the pick and draft a top-6 forward.
2. This team has already committed 31 mill towards
next years cap. www.nhlnumbers.com. Must get one, if
not two top 6 forwards. See what it would take to get
Corey Perry out of Anaheim, as that team is in
shambles approaching the offseason (cap-wise. Can
Martin St. Louis be had? Don't overpay for the likes
of Markus Naslund or Patrick Marleau. Kristian
Huselius could be an interesting signing.
Knowing that Toronto might want to dump Bryan McCabe
and his remaining 15 mill for 3 years, maybe trade off
Bates and a youngster, and get a youngster back. He
still is a top 4 Dman in this league.
With upwards of 23 million of cap space, this team
must get two top 6 forwards (minimum) and a power play
specialist on the backline. No more stopgaps. Go with
the youth.
Until Monday night at 8 p.m. on Versus, may luck
strike the Blue and Orange and will #91 from Sarnia of
OHL wear our sweater.
Here's what I would do to fix this sorry franchise: Move the team to Siberia!
What in the H E double hockey sticks are you guys smoking on the island. If you and your owner think this team has a chance of winning now or in the future YOU'RE DREAMING IN TECHNOCOLOUR. Bryan McCabe, Toronto will be saying thank you and they will throw in Blake for a roll of tape. Do everyone a favour if your not gong to sign Nolan to an extention trade him for a draft pick. DP STOP THE PUCK. Tambellini is not going to be a goal scorer at this level. If he was don't you think other teams will be poking around to trade for him. Tell your scouts there is a huge area up in Canada they can look at for talent. Leave the colleges alone for a while, geez. Comrie 4.5mil or whatever for a third line centre on any other team in the league.
