There's plenty of girls soccer to read about today on Newsday.com.
Read Jeff Gold's story about Sayville, which advanced to the Suffolk County Class A championship with a 4-2 win over Shoreham-Wading River on Wednesday. Sayville has dedicated its season to coach John Schroeder, who died earlier this season at the age of 64.
Adam Ronis has two stories. His first story is about Islip's 3-1 win over Comsewogue in the other Class A semifinal.
Ronis also has a story about Northport getting a controversial win over Smithtown East in a Class AA first-round playoff game. The officials at the game allowed an extra round of penalty kicks. Smithtown East should have won the game 5-4 after the first round of penalty kicks, but Northport prevailed 8-7 with the extra kicks.
