Absolutely brutal day for Long Island boys soccer teams as all four fell in semifinals up here in Oneonta at the National Soccer Hall of Fame.
Half Hollow Hills West lost 2-1 to Vestal in Class AA. Hills West led 1-0 before Vestal tied the score with 2:59 left. Vestal then scored the winner just 1:21 into overtime to give a sudden and shocking end to Hills West’s season.
Mattituck lost 3-2 to Spackenkill in Class B. After Mattituck took a 1-0 lead into halftime, Spackenkill scored three goals in a 12-minute stretch to begin the second half and take over the game. Mattituck scored with 8:40 left by couldn’t get the equalizer.
