Shoreham-Wading River scored the first nine goals of the game and leads Skaneateles (III), 11-2 at the half. This is a rematch of last year's final, which SWR won.
Ten players tallied a point for SWR in the first half, including three goals by Erica DeVito and two goals and an assist from Stephanie Anderson. Jen DeVito and Megan Gersbeck have two goals apiece, Marie Cordaro has a goal and an assist, and Kaitlin Rochler has two assists.
More to come...
UPDATE: The second half is just underway and SWR now leads 13-3. The 10-goal lead means that the clock runs no matter what, even after goals. That's good, because it has begun to rain here in Cortland.
UPDATE: SWR made it 2-for-2 for Long Island teams, with a 21-5 victory over Skaneateles. It is the Wildcats' second straight Class C title.
Jen and Erica DeVito each scored four goals, while Stephanie Anderson chipped in with three.
And good news(!), the rain has stopped ... for now. I hope I didn't jinx it!
