The Burbs team defeated the Boros team, 97-73, yesterday in the fifth annual Metro Classic. South Carolina-bound Ieasia Walker of Copiague was named MVP with 15 points.

Northport coach Rich Castellano will be one of nine people to be inducted into the New York State Basketball Hall of Fame in March at the Glens Falls Civic Center. He has 491 wins and nine sectional championships in 28 seasons.

Denis Conroy has stepped down for health reasons as coach of Commack and Bruce Haller was named the new coach. He has coached the Long Island Renegades, an AAU team, the last 6 years and coached the Empire State team this past summer with Tina Riggio and Mike Riley. Haller began coaching as an assistant Varsity and junior varsity coach on Walt Bachman's staff in Valley Stream for 10 years. Haller said Conroy will stay involved as much as his health will allow.

The Metro Classic All-Star game is this Sunday at Island Garden. The girls game is at noon followed by the boys at 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door. Here is the roster for Long Island/Hudson Valley, which will face New York City.
