Prahalis named Gatorade Player of the Year for NY

Sammy Prahalis was named the New York Gatorade Player of the Year. She averaged 30 points and led Commack to the Suffolk Class AA semifinals. Prahalis, a six-year starter, finished with 2,372 career points and is a McDonald's All-American.
Prahalis, who will play at Ohio State, had the three highest scoring games of her career this season. She scored a career-high 50 points, 40 against Northport last month and 39 against Rush Henrietta (Section V) in December. Prahalis will play in the McDonald's All-American Game on March 26 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee.

Sammy prahalis has been elimated from playoff contention two years in a row, while north babylons Eugenia Mcphearson is still out dropping about twenty points a game, and is in the state finals again. S Prahalis team was elimanated by E.Mcphearson north babylon.
Did you see her team? Her teammates wouldnt start on any other team. She had no supporting cast. NB had 4 or 5 players who could play, Sammy's game is in a different world over Mcpherson. Just watch their college careers and you'll see why she's the best ever.
it's not the gatorade team of the year, it's player of the year. If you dont think sammy prahalis is the player of the year in NY state, then you're living in a box.
The real player of the year is from upstate new york and her name is Shenise Johnson. We played Commack and beat them in NYC. It was a great game with both players scoring a ton of points. Shenise is a more complete player. Prahlis is good - but Shenise is the one!!!
I disagree. I saw that game. Sammy is a much better player but played for a bad team. She literally was the whole team...scoring, assists, rebounds, blocks, steals...and she's 5'6!! And is the most entertaining player on any level in girls basketball.
She's going to Ohio State, where is Shenise going? Prahalis was all-american, was Shenise? I don't think so. She will make Sportscenter highlights in college, There is no comparison. Watch her play next yr, then talk to me.
Actually yes Shenise won both McDonalds All American and Nike WBCA All American and now another State Title. Shenise turned down tons of colleges and is going to Miami to play in the toughest Conference - ACC. Prahilis is good but Shenise is better. Shenise is more complete - Prahilis is a great guard - Shenise can handle the ball as well as control the boards. Multi-dimensional. A mark of a great player is not only personal stats but can they make the players around them better - Shenise does that.
