Roosevelt hands Floral Park first loss

BY ADAM RONIS

I told you we would return shortly. And like I predicted, the topic is Nassau Class A. Roosevelt, which we talked about several days ago being the team coaches pointed to as a sleeper before the season, upset Floral Park today, 64-54.

The game stands out because Floral Park has dominated the league. Besides a four-point win over Wantagh, Floral Park has been winning with ease. Roosevelt is 7-2 and Floral Park is 8-1.

I saw Roosevelt on Saturday and it certainly has the nucleus to win a championship. Roosevelt has three solid guards and some big girls inside that should improve. Floral Park was due to have a loss somewhere along the way in the ability-grouping schedule. Give a tremendous amount of credit to Floral Park for winning its first eight games in league play.
