Could Roosevelt get better down the stretch?

BY ADAM RONIS

The buzz prior to the season was Roosevelt was a team to watch. And so far, that sentiment has proven true. Roosevelt is 9-4 and 6-2 in Nassau Conference ABC-II.

Roosevelt has good guards with DonnaKay Henry, Denise Crawford and Nikita Green. Roosevelt has some size inside and the development of some of those young players could impact how deep Roosevelt goes in the postseason.

Coach Don Crummell said his best player down low hasn't even taken the court yet. Simone Thomas, a 5-10 senior, has a slight ACL tear. She just started practicing four days ago and she is expected to be back soon.

Sophomore Samantha Corbit has also picked up her play the past few games. She had 10 of her 12 points in the third quarter of a 56-46 win over Malverne yesterday.
