Jalon Edwards ran for three second-half touchdowns, on runs of 3, 55 and 57, to lead a powerful Roosevelt ground game in the Rough Riders’ 26-7 victory over Locust Valley late Sunday afternoon here at Hofstra.
Roosevelt (9-1) will face Seaford (10-0) next Saturday at Hofstra in the Nassau Conference IV championship game.
The Rough Riders fumbled five times in the first half, losing two, and trailed 7-0. But they regrouped brilliantly scoring on four consecutive drives spanning the third and fourth quarters to win easily. Edwards ran for 179 yards on 14 carries. James McClenic gained 88 yards on 17 carries plus a touchdown and quarterback Korye Hollingsworth added 61 yards on 11 carries. Roosevelt outgained Locust Valley on the ground, 356-63.
