BEST OF THE REST

BY JEFF GOLD

My previous post looked at some of the public school teams that could likely go undefeated. Let’s take a quick look now at who the best teams are on Long Island to have already lost a game.

There’s a clear top four right now among the Class I and II public schools on Long Island. If anyone thinks that Floyd, East Islip, Farmingdale and Lawrence aren’t easily the best four teams in some order, I’d like to hear the argument.

But who’s next? What public school team that has already lost a game is the best?

Here are some teams that deserve consideration for the “best of the rest:”

Freeport, Baldwin, Garden City, Hewlett, Brentwood, Longwood, Riverhead, Newfield.

I'll pick Freeport for now. It has impressive wins over Baldwin and East Meadow, two solid teams, and its only loss is to Farmingdale.

What does everyone else think? Which team with a loss is the best?

well the best out of the rest i think is riverhead. they are a very solid team with out of juniors and great sophmores comming up, i think they could make LIC for div 2 this year but the next year without a doubt riverhead will be # 1 and the team to beat.

No body's even lookint at west babylon they have a young team that only gets better as the season goes along they manhandled newfield a team with a lot of emotion that beat two of their earlier opponents that west babylon has lost to.. the sophmore, junior, seinor combination only greatens and they are ready to shock the county.

Im Goin to have to say bldwin is the best team, just for the fact that they are hot right now. I think they have a chance to upset Farmingdale, and if they do they need to be ranked 1 or 2.

Freeport's win over Baldwin was alot closer than one may realize.
Baldwin really exposed Freeport for the rest of the leauge to see.
