Just got in from practice and Eric Mangini's press conference. I'll have a morning practice report in a little bit but not good news on the Danny Woodhead front. Woodhead, the NCAA's career rushing leader from Division II Chadron State, was helped off the field toward the end of Friday's practice with an apparent knee injury. Mangini, out of character when it comes to injuries, answered a question about Woodhead directly a few moments ago.
"Nothing certain, but I’d say it's not looking good for him to be back anytime soon," Mangini said.
Asked if it was a leg injury, Mangini said, "Knee. I think he then said it was the left knee, but I couldn't be sure."

This sucks! I had high hopes for this kid to give relief to J. Miller or Washington so they could concentrate on their perspective roles. It sounded like the JETS were trying to do just that. Hopefully the kid will rebound. Glad to hear all the good stuff from camp, hope it's not smoke up a place smoke doesn't belong! Or is it sunshine? Keep the info coming.
if Mangina is speaking about the injury, it can't be good. that's a shame, i would like to see what Woodhead has to offer
is football like the NBA, in that you can't cut an injured player? this is how John Starks got his start. he wasn't supposed to make the cut, but got injured. then, when he was healthy, the Knicks needed a body...and the rest is history...
I feel like I jinxed him by asking for updates on him... :-( He was apparently doing fine until I asked... Well hopefully he can make it back, and still have that lightning speed... hopefully.
Knee injuries can be devastating for any runner - especially one whose whole game is based on his speed like Woodhead.
It will depend on the nature of the injury, but I would think - as was pointed out - if Mangini actually mentioned it, it could be pretty bad.
