Keller is in

Dustin Keller, the Jets second pick of the first round of the 2008 draft (taken 30th overall), just signed. That leaves Vernon Gholston as the only unsigned player from this year's draft class. In a corresponding roster move, cornerback Jonathan Zenon was waived. More to come...

Hey Erik,

Have you seen anything of the rookies this week???

Thx.

unklB

Excellent job by Mr. T. Keller is going to be a real weapon for the Jets this year. 50 catches and 4 TD's.

IRA- so with Keller getting 50 & 4td's.....what's your prediction on Chris Baker?

unklB, we don't have access to the rookies this week, though a good deal of what they're doing is classroom stuff anyway.

6 posts in 3 days!!! Take it easy, Boland, or you're gonna need another vacation.

Easy Ira, you wouldn't want Baker to think he's lost his leverage or anything...

Erik is Gholston attending the classroom work the Jets are having now since he is unsigned?

Guys i think baker will get traded to the Saints or another team when somebody gets hurt. I actually wish Baker would just keep quite and come in and play. I just don't see that happening. He really pushed it too far during the mini-camp.I would say something like this for the TE's/WR's.
Keller 50 catches 4 Td's
Stuckey 35 catches 2 TD's
Franks 20 catches 3 TD's
LC 75 cacthes 5 TD's
Cotchery 85 catches 4 TD's

Henry,Smith/Wright will combine 15-18 catches. RB's catches to be determined.

Ira, are you determing them now?
Kidding. I love the thought you put into everything.

And JayM, you'll see I answered your question toward the end of my Keller post above.

Ira, you and I seem to disagree a bit on Chris Baker. I don't view Baker as a top 10 TE- I view him as average at best. I don't think he will be traded to the Saints. New Orleans was looking at Shockey for a 2nd rnd pick-- that almost came off- but the Jets traded up in this years draft & took Keller. Had they not taken Keller, I think the Giants would have taken him, then picked a safely in the 2nd round. The Saints, once the deal with the Giants fell through, had more then enough time to contact the Jets, or the Jets contacting them.....We'll never know if any discussions took place. That was the time to trade him....Now, we'd be lucky to get a 5th rd pick. I'm glad Keller is signed, looking forward to seeing him in action!

I don't think you'll hear much from Chris Baker. I think he's figured out that he'd be pretty much alone speaking out now that CJ and JS have settled down to play.
