Good morning. Two pratices today as the Jets, after one afternoon practice Friday, go at 8:45 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. Sunny with temperatures in the mid-80's and both workouts are open to the public. And that concludes our Jets PR segment for today.

As for all the coverage today, lots of flapping jaws weighed in on the Brett Favre news from yesterday, including Newsday's NFL columnist Bob Glauber who said the Jets should forget going after the quarterback. Other columnists said the opposite, with media opinion pretty much mirroring the public it seems. But everyone has something to say, one way or the other, which keeps sports interesting.
Anyway, we'll have the usual quarterback updates today and also a little more along the way of observation about the defense. To one of our loyal posters, KeepChad&Kellen, yes we will get to the o-line as well. Also this morning we'll be on the lookout for Danny Woodhead, who was helped off the field yesterday afternoon with what appeared to be a knee injury.

Boland,
If Ratcliff can handle being a backup and KC starts, do you think the Jets should trade CP ? BTW ,getting Farve is idiotic. It would take him quite awhile to grasp this offense. Plus he is like 80 years old in Football years.
Erik,
Who's the standout so far? I saw an article on Fox Sports that stated Pennington has the early lead. Clear cut leader already? Thoughts?
Sorry, not Fox, CNN-SI
You do the best reporting from training camp. Congartulations Eric Boland
Erik, any truth to Gholston getting injured today? How did he look? How did the overall defense look? Jenkins?
Hey eric,
long time listener, first time caller. how is caulcrick looking in comparison to chatham and smith. i have a gut feeling about this kid. how are his chances of making the roster, would you say at this point?
The biggest hole on the Jets is at Quarterback. Clemens has a gun, but he's dumb, and Pennington is smart, but throws ducks. You have to get Favre!
Darrell, no truth to that about Gholston. I'm about to write up a practice report and was going to highlight some good work by Gholston.
Dr. Greenjeans. Thanks. I'll be able to give a little more on that answer in the coming days because Smith and Chatman missed the first day on the non-football injury list. So they have just two practices under their belt. Caulrick got some of their work on the first day of camp and he looked OK - he is physical for sure - but the Jets have a lot of backs right now.
Boland, how has Bryan Thomas looked so far? I remember during OTAs you wrote that he accepted responsibility for his terrible year last year and that he seemed motivated to perform better. How has he looked so far? Faster, more motivated?
Thanks, Boland. I was worried for a minute.
Erik,
call me crazy but, here's my conspiracy theory on the whole Favre sit...I think the Jets are providing their two man QB race some needed pressure relief by floating this story. I believe that they are happy with the Chad/Kellen competition and are willing to take the heat in the front office when the Favre to NY rumor inevitably falls in Tampa's favor. The public criticism won't ever touch their eventual choice at QB in this scenario unless both of our boys stink. why would GB agree to participate in this charade? b/c competition in a trade scenario strengthens their position with TB.
how has the kid Henry looked at WR?
Tomsect137, still waiting for something to come his way. I remember one ball thrown to Henry yesterday. No drops from the kid, but nothing memorable yet either. And this morning, there weren't too many completions to anyone.
