And the Faneca goes to ...

The New York Jets.

Now, he HAS NOT SIGNED his contract and won't do so until Monday. But his agent, Rick Smith, said it's a done deal. It'll be a 5-year contract for $40 million with $21 million in guaranteed money. He'll be on Long Island tomorrow, have his physical Monday morning, ink the deal after that, and then, presumably, go to a bank and deposit a very large check.

By the way, Smith added that the Jets' aggressiveness yesterday in getting Jenkins and moving Vilma for picks made Faneca realize how serious the organization is about winning and pulled a lot of weight in the decision-making process.

So, the Jets refused to give Pete Kendall - what was it exactly - $2.7 million last year? And the line struggled terribly in a 4-12 season.

Now they turn around and offer Faneca $40 million for 5 years, with $21 million up front.

Dr. Z at Sport Illustrated had Faneca ranked BELOW Kendall at the end of last season in his All-Pro picks.

Why didn't the Jets just give Pete his money to begin with?! They would've saved $18 million and avoided the fiasco on the line last year.

Or is why they ARE 4-12?

What's the latest on the Jets possibly going after Damien Woody?

Unreal...some fans just want to bitch and moan about everything.
Faneca is a HUGE pickup and some bozo wants to talk about Kendall. How many Pro Bowls does Kendall have? Faneca has 7, end of story. Plus, Kendall was a cry baby loser.

thanks tom for responding to my earlier comment. i was just a little fustrated b/c i wanted faneca so bad and theres was no updates bout him. but now hes a jet and im happy.

Here's a noble idea, let's have Mangini and Mike T have a full three or four years to actually build their own team, without everyone bitching and moaning on how they under achieved last year, and how they muffed the Kendall situation. How do you build a winning franchise? Stability!! In the last two drafts they have brought in Ferguson, Mangold, and last year added Revis & Harris. All solid pickups, even if Ferguson has been a little slow to achieve greatness. Last year I believe it was like seven games that were lost by seven or fewer, which translates into the team that never gave up, no matter what. I know we are all frustrated and want instant success, but I for one, am intersted in seeing what Mangini & Mike T can build this franchise into. Let us not forget the Pete Carroll situatation back in 1995, fired after one season for Rich Kotite, how well did that work out for us??? So stop the crying about Vilma for a fourth round pick, in two seasons in the 3-4 he was awfull. Maybe he does suceed in N.O. but getting a 4th and possibly a second (09') for a guy who stunk the last two years, injury aside, I think it was a good trade. Go JETS!!!

I love the moves so far........But our offense have no playmakers at receiver and qb......The jets have to take mcffaden if he falls, otherwise if hes not there i would trade the pick if i was them.
Yes if we draft a mccfadden, we have jones and washington at rb which is a great trio of backs..... I think our off line is good now and i wouldnt bring in another free agent for it. I would draft a lineman or 2 in the draft.......I woud look at javon walker maybe........I feel like our team will be too predicatble with the run...........Can leon or mcffaden lineup at the slot receiver????????

Shout out to Ira from Staten Island: Instead of having a regime where the coaching staff and front office aren't on the same page- it seems that the Jets are going in a great direction. Mr. T was quoted as saying that the Jets had a plan- well all so called Jets fans who panic so easily- maybe all of this was part of a plan. Everybody criticizing the jettisoning of Vilma- please realize he was given every opportunity to fit into the system and he couldn't. David Harris played a little more than half a season and almost led the league in tackles. Everybody saying that the coaching staff should fit their system around the personnell- get real. That sounds like Herman Edwards wanting everyone to get along. This is football- it works best when a head coach has a well defined system. Last year, everybody killed Mangini and Tannenbaum for getting rid of veterans like Pete Kendall. Maybe they knew what they were doing. I am excited about the Jets next moves. I think so far they have been creative, and the future bodes well.

Kendall was a weed. We paid for it. Get over it. Now is the future and we just fixed two problems and we haven't even drafted yet. Give the FO its due and try to keep up!

Very good offseason so far.

Now please trade Robertson and Chad for draft picks.

Forget trading CP. There are no better backup QB's out there, you can't count on KC anyway, and you need two QB's that can start.
My bet is they don't trade DR unless they sign one of this weekend's warriors first.

CMON TOM ROCK.....GIVE US AN UPDATE OR SOMETHING THAT GOIN ON ABOUT LITO OR GAY OR ANY1. LOL.

Gay has accepted an offer from the saints.
