I`d trade Kellon Clemen's right arm to Chad Pennington.
Wait is it OK if I'm the GM of this paper instead of the Jets? I'd trade you back to the horse racing colomns or where ever else it was you came from.
Vilma for Roy Williams is the real play for a trade with Detroit. Both teams get exactly what they need. Both players need a new team. Both fill huge needs. They are the same age. Both were top picks, and both teams will be able to enter the draft with a much easier task of filling their needs. If you look at last years numbers you will see that Pouha had just as good a season as Rogers as a sub only! Rogers is always hurt, usually lazy, and is going to cost a fortune. We need Roy williams. Detroit NEEDS Vilma.
Jon, only trade the shoulder. We'll take Kellen's strength with Chad's accuracy and brains.
And I'd do Vilma for Roy in a heartbeat. Too bad the Lions won't.
They panicked and signed Fabini and Mawua to big contracts after losing Mckenzie to the Giants and Randy to the the Redskins 4 years ago. Not sure why dumping players not suitable for the 3-4 is the answer. Robertson and Vilma will star for a 4-3 team.
The Giants showed how getting a Def coordinator that will play the scheme that's best for the players can make a diffrence. They went from a lay back in zones to an attacking defense.
Still waiting for man-genious to show those multiple fronts and attacking D we thought was coming with him
If I was the GM of the Jets, I would trade Chad Pennington for whatever you can get ASAP. Then I would tender an offer for Anderson, if Cleveland Matches the offer, you then trade for Drady Quinn and let Clemens and Quinn decide in Training Camp who is the QB of the future.
You do whatever it takes to get Randy Moss at midnight tonight. Reunite him with a healthy Chad Pennington. Aquire Faneca and Woody (of possible), trade for Shaun Rogers or Kris Jenkins, draft Gholston (if available) and have an upgrade at both the O and D lines. Improvement at Dline will show improvement in the defensive backfield (one feeds off the other)...and a fortress of an oline will give Penny the time to pick a part defenses, along with the improved running game to assist him. Last year he was recovering from an underrated ankle injury on his plant-leg and was getting hit (even when not sacked) more than most QB's in the game last year. So he played scared and checked down more than he should have. Give him a line, a solid running game (which he will have with improvements to the oline) and watch him flourish....Reunite Chad and Randy! WE ARE --- THE JETS!
Would 3-4 for 4-3 count as a trade?
Vilma (a good player who doesn't fit the Jets' system) for Shaun Rogers (who would fit perfectly) in a New York minute!
The two biggest priorities for the Jets this offseason are to improve the offensive and defensive fronts. Since there really aren't any edge rushers available via free agency or trade, they will need to acquire one through the draft. If Darren McFadden is off the board at pick #6, then the Jets would likely draft an edge rusher and a right tackle with their first two draft picks. If they believe McFadden will be there and want to draft him, then they need to acquire a capable right tackle prior to the draft. After choosing McFadden, I believe the Jets would then then need to package their second pick with one or more others to get in position to draft Quentin Groves or one of the other top candidates to play edge-rushing OLB in a 3-4. As far as the free agency/trade period is concerned, I believe the Jets need to aquire a nose tacke, left guard, cornerback and possibly a right tackle as their top priorities.
I think we should try to get stallworth, faneca, m turner , and trade for brady quinn get rid of chad let the two young guns sling it out possibly draft facco to join them, and choose the best one, and draft a beast pass rusher....sounds like a good start to me
If I was the GM doing business the way things are currently being run I would fire Mangini and resign.
