The Pats' play-making cornerback Asante Samuel will be one of the biggest free agents on the market this offseason. Any chance he could wind up with the Jets? They were one of the teams reportedly interested in luring him last year before the Pats slapped Samuel with the franchise tag.
Samuel said he and Eric Mangini have a close relationship. Mangini was his position coach when he first came into the league and then because the defensive coordinator before taking the job with the Jets.
"We spent a lot of time together, so we built a good relationship," Samuel said. "We all knew he had the ability to be a head coach."

if the jetas get samual which they prob wont.....the jets would have the BEST secondary in the league.
Revis, Samuel and Kerry Rhodes would all be potential Pro Bowl players -- bet that would help their pass rush!
Samuel will long be signed off the free agent market and "Tangini" will be fiddle-farting around with some 2nd string goof from the Atlanta Falcons or some team like that. The only way our team is going to get better is for "Tangini" to take a step back, look in the mirror, and re-evaluate their strategy. We have 27 million in cap space I believe and there is no reason not to use every bit of it. People can get mad at Buffalo, San Francisco, and Cleveland for their big spending last year, but you know what, they were aggressive. Look at some of the people like Eric Steinbech, Derrick Dockery, and others who would have looked good in NY Jet green and would have helped our team instead of guys like Kenyon Coleman, David Bowens, and Darian Barnes who quite honestly weren't any better than what we had on our roster. The deal we made for Thomas Jones-- That is the aggressiveness "Tangini" needs in free agency.
Then and only then will this team get any better.
