2008 coming on fast

By Tom Rock

fortune_teller.jpgThe when's haven't been decided, but the who's and the where's have. With the standings solidifying around the league, the Jets will play a third-place schedule next year and now have a complete list of their opponents. Here they are:

Home Games: New England, Buffalo, Miami, Denver, Kansas City, Arizona, St. Louis, Cincinnati.

Away Games: New England, Buffalo, Miami, Oakland, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Tennessee.

So, with the understanding that a lot will change around the league between now and September, any early predictions for a Jets record in 2008?

i'm a fan...but i'm realistic...7-9

four trips to the west coast next season is rough so five wins is realistic. BUT they could win 11 or 12 games if the league schedules their bye for week two or three.

That schedule makes it tempting to bring back Chad, draft a stud O-lineman (Jake Long), use the cap space to sign Berrian and an impact defenseman and go for some wins.

Jets have no QB and will continue to struggle, I saw a 5 or 6 win season at most!

If we rely on trick plays, a QB with JV arm strength, and one high caliber O-lineman... 3-13.

Oh wait. Thats this year.

Tom,

Lets be honest it is too early to predict crap. What kind of off season is Tannenbaum going to have? What changes are there going to be? With so many so holes to fill can the Jets be any good next year?

Mangini wants to play a defense that he has maybe 3 players for and the offense is clueless on how to score.

I wouldn't waste a # 1 on a lineman. Are you crazy. Parcells always found lineman late in the draft. The Jets need playmakers on both sides of the ball. So McFadden woudl do wonders and drafting a linemen in the later rounds is good.

With the understanding that I'm an optimist. In the order listed:

Home Games: L, W, W, W, W, L, W, L
Away Games: L, L, W, W, L, W, W, L

So thats 9-7

This is dependent on drafting an amazing O-liner. And everyone staying healthy.

Way too early to make predictions. The draft and free agent signings will determine their outcome more than the schedule.
