And away we go ...

By Tom Rock

... without Jacob Bender. The rookie lineman is inactive for today's game. Not the only surprise there. The Jets are also sitting Andre Dyson, Eric Smith, Darian Barnes, Mike DeVito, Jason Pociask and Chansi Stuckey. Tuiasosopo is the third QB.

Jets are wearing white over white. Patriots are blue over silver.

Great info. on uniforms, Rock. I can always count on you.

Mangini set the tone for the game on the first drive when he bet that his team couldn't get a half-yard on its home field and after it spent a draft pick and $20M on Thomas Jones.

That's called COACHING SCARED, and it's how you beat yourself before the other team has a chance.

Oh great..just great! Sad Chad and the boys are doing it again. I'm thinking of becoming a Pats fan...or maybe Green Bay. This team is mediocre.

The great jets "fans" of N.Y.just cheered an ankle injury (to a man who has returned from 2 major shoulder traumas) while he attempted to crawl off the field. The animals who would react this way are not fans of anything - more like sad , pathetic little people who depend on a box score too much for their reason to live.
And don't justify it by whining about salaries, drafts ,ownership etc. giving you the right to be subhuman .
Some say you get what you give .Usually . In this case you'll always get heart and soul from Chad Pennington. After witnessing the moronic reaction today ,it's clear you don't deserve it.

No one cheered the injury. They cheered Clemens because (1) he's essentially a rookie; and (2) coming into a major game with the outcome still in the balance. The Jet crowd has always been notoriously pro-Pennington, so the suggestion is ludicrous.

NOTICE that CBS made no mention of the cheers that Pennington received when he walked back on to the field. WHY? Because they were more concerned with protecting the asinine analysis of Nantz and Simms than with telling the truth.

That ANYONE would come away thinking that the fans were cheering an injury is testament not only to the stupidity of the average person but also to the plenary power of media. Jim Nantz and Simms probably don't have a triple-digit IQ between them, but because they're on TV, the average dope credits what they have to say.

Sad.

Jimmy, I beg to differ. Long before Nantz or Simms said anything about this issue, I was seething at the classless (at best) reaction of a loud majority of the Meadowlands crowd. Chad limped around the field to a chorus of cheers. No way you can spin that as anything other than classless. He did NOT deserve that. Fans may have not directly cheered the injury in anticipation of Kellen coming in, but it sure looked that way. Chad may not be the answer, but he's the best chance we have of making the playoffs this year. Right now that looks like a long shot unless we can sort out the O and D Lines.

I just disagree. It was dummy Nantz and special-ed Simms trying to search for something to talk about.

This was a brutal loss. Tom Brady had so much time in the pocket, you could have served him cocktails prior to his passes. This defense must improve or we'll go 6 -10 and kiss any playoff hopes goodbye.

In the section I was sitting in, there were several people yelling out things like "yes, now Clemens will finally get in there" and some other really classless things.

People who are happy one of the players on their team gets injured are no fans IMO.

Maybe you don't think people were cheering that Chad got hurt, but there were plenty there I assure you.

Both sides of the ball the Jets lost. O line looks lost and not for nothing but D Brick looks lost. Looks like Leinhart would have been the pick and Tannenbaum must be kicking himself.

Ellis and Robertson were no where to be found. Vilma is not a fit in the defense.

Yes one game but against the Patriots this Jet team has so much to go before it is a Super Bowl team.

If today is an example of the Jets' preparation, and defense, then they'll be a 3 and 13 team this year.

They still can't stop the run. A good coach fits his scheme to the personnel, not the other way around.

I was at the game. Thought the cheers when Chad got hurt were classless.

Question: Where was Fireman Ed today?

i was at the game and was under the impression that the reason people were cheering when chad left the field was because he refused help and hopped off under his own power and tried to fire up his team. I did not think they were booing the injury at all.

To cheer a man who gets hurt on your own team shows no class, and the fact that he hobbles off the field to save his team a timeout...what a bunch of f!@#ing scumbag dirtbags...You have officially passed Philly fans as the worst fans in the NFL!

Today i am ashamed to be associated with the Ny Jets.It was classless what the Jet fans did today when Chad was limping off the field with an apparent injury to his ankle. I will never again have respect for those fans that booed Chad . Pennington is a true warrior in every sense of the word, and for his own fans too "BOO" him is nothing short of Disgusting. I will continue to write Blogs ,but i will not want to be associated with those fans that showed disrespect to a "QB" that will put it on the line every week. "BOO" TO YOU JET FANS!!!

Jet fans this was very embarrasing. To cheer a man that lays it on the line every time out, just disgraceful. Hate to be associated with you classless "JET FANS" ....

THe Fans Cheering Chad's injury was a product of fustration! I didn't cheer but
I'm sick of watching the PATs
dominate us in our building.
Can any change hurt us? I was thinking of history repeating itself, when Mo Lewis knocked out Bledsoe and ushered in the Brady era! Well maybe it's time for the Clemens era. Rock didn't report this but the entire D-Line was inactive.

As an outsider, I think the Jets are a pretty good team. I think Mangini is a good coach. I think the Jets have some talent...but, they ran into a team that is going to do the same thing to most of the NFL that they did to the Jets. Face it, the Pats are in a league of their own...they are stacked at every position...very deep, very talented, and clearly Moss is going to have a pro bowl year with Brady tossing him one TD after another.

Still, my bet is the Jets make the post season.

I was at the game and heard no cheers for Chad's injury. There were some cheers for Clemens when he ran in but Chad had already hopped off the field. If the TV announcers said the fans were cheering Chad's injury, they were mistaken. Maybe a few idiots were cheering the injury but I didn't hear anyone doing so and the stadium as a whole DEFINITELY was not. Some people just seem to want to pile on to the Jets fans as well as the team.
