Pregame Drills
By Tom Rock
Just a quick hit on some inactives for the Jets, which came in without much of a surprise. Cedric Houston is out for the game despite practicing this week and B.J. Askew, who looked banged up during the week, will play. CB David Barrett is inactive along with FB James Hodgins, LB Anthony Schlegel, C Trey Teague, TE Zach Hilton and DT C.J. Mosley. Kellen Clemens is the third QB. Like I said, no shockers.
The Dolphins made a few changes, switching RG Damion McIntosh to LT and swinging LT L.J. Shelton to the RG position. Maybe they saw something on film that they think they can exploit. Then again, anyone who watches the Jets run defense this season sees things they can exploit.
Jets, by the way, are wearing white pants and green tops. Dolphins go all white.

Anyone catch Shaun Powell's article? he said the following:
"So what does that say about the Jets? Here's what: Thank goodness for the schedule makers.
Really, the football gods must've been rescued by Fireman Ed in their previous lives. They're doing their part in ensuring that this rebuilding year under a
rookie coach and a team that can't run the football will be as painless as
possible.
They evidently have a soft spot for Eric Mangini and Chad Pennington and
everyone else in the organization with something on the line, because the road
ahead for the Jets is paved with similarly friendly and frolicking Dolphins.
... they can have a winning record this season. Seriously.
Although, if that happens, we'll know why. We'll know the record will be misleading, because these crummy teams just don't have enough talent or passion or purpose to do much damage this season."
anyone that agrees with this, consider the following...
The Pats have a very similar schedule. the records of the teams so far that the Pats play this year are 36-46. The Pats, like the Jets, also play buf and mia twice, det, gb, hou and ten.
So, if the Pats make the playoffs, should they thank their gods too? will their record be misleading too? or is that only the Jets because, well, they're the Jets?
fair is fair. you can't say that about the jets and not the patriots when their schedules are almost identical
Very good point, in any year all teams in a division play the same schedule except for two opponents which are determined by prior year's standing, so Jets can at best have a two game scheduling advantage v. Pats. However, the real competition is for the wild card in which case the teams may have played vastly different schedules.
Did anyone criticize the Bears or Giants last place schedules in 2005?
It still doesn't make the Jets any better of a team. Powell is right- right now the Jets are middle of the pack if not a notch below that. It would be nice to make the playoffs or even just have a run at them but unless the team develops more we don't have what it takes to really contend.
