“They are dominating like the New England Patriots did last year”

That’s the quote from NFL Network analyst Steve Mariucci on the 4-0 Giants. Sigh. How quickly they forget.

Yes, the Giants dominated one game the way the Patriots did last year, blowing the feathers off the Seahawks, 44-6, on Sunday. But just two weeks ago they needed overtime – two possessions in overtime – to beat a winless Bengals team. And the week before that they were in a one-possession game in the fourth quarter with the Rams.

Last year’s Patriots were never so vulnerable. In their first four games they outscored their opponents by 100 points, 148-48. This year’s Giants are ahead of their foes by a combined score of 127-49. That’s a differential of 78 points.

Is it impressive? Hell yeah. Do I think they are the best team in the NFL right now? Probably. Are they the equivalent of the 2007 Patriots (regular-season version)? Not yet.

But a convincing win over the Browns on Sunday may draw them closer.

Your thoughts? Am I being too cynical or is Mariucci being too hyperbolic?

Moderation is always the best way of living. They had a great game, and clearly are one of the best teams in the league. But people need to calm down. The Redskins are going to be 7-1 so the Giants need to rack up as many W's as they can. I'd prefer games like Seattle, but I'd be willing to settle for a bunch of Cincy's...

C'mon, Rock! Drink the Kool-Aid!!

They've been winning, now show A dominant game.

Too early to call the team dominant, but ok to say their repeat prospects are looking decent.

Just another TV guy trying to make statements and have people talking about it.

The giants are taking care of business (sort of OT against the Bungles), but in reality haven't played great teams. The only one with a winning record was Wash. Playing the Browns and 49ers should be 2 more wins, then it gets hard with Steelers, Philly, Cowboys, etc. Let's see how we do against them before saying dominant.

We are definitely snot kicking the other teams though!!!

I hope they try to do an extension on Jacobs now before it costs them too much at the end of the season.

The comment by espo about playing more solid competition is valad, personally I can't wait to see the G-Men match up against, the Eagles, Steelers and the Boys. As for the extension for Jacobs, the sooner the better.

Let's be honest. The Giants are cruising right now, but they don't seem to me to be as impressive as Washington because of the schedual through week 5. The lineup of games gets a lot more interesting after week 7 when the Giants face the Steelers, then the tough NFC East games coming up after that. This division should come down to the final week. GO GMEN!!
