Football Tuesday

That's right, today's the day we ALL talk football. Boland has a live Jets chat at 11 and we hit the air here talking Giants at 2.

In the meantime, wanted to throw this out there:

No Strahan. No Osi. No sacks from Kiwi (yet). But ... is this defense better than last year's?

Some numbers for you to chew on while you think it over. I know it's early and they've played some offensive cupcakes, but the Giants:

Lead the NFC in fewest yards allowed per game (205.0)

Lead the NFC in fewest points allowed per game (10)

Are one of four teams who have played two games (Sorry, Baltimore!) and have not allowed a rushing TD

Are second in the NFC with 7 sacks (Seattle has 9, but is also 0-2)

And, have not allowed 80 points in the first two games.

Your thoughts are always welcome. Just keep them clean (i.e. no pictures of Chris Cooley).

I think this defense can be better then last years, no question. I think Justin Tuck by years end will be if not the best in the top three defensive ends in football. And Kiwi is still a little rusty but he also went up against, yes older, but one of the premiere left tackles in the game today. I think are secondary is MUCH more stable and everyone knows there job. Also I think the linebackers are better AP as always is great, Danny Clark is just as good as Mitchell was last year and the rotation is much better then Kiwi, Torbor, Wilkinson were last year. I think Spags doesn't need super stars but just guys that will buy in and they will be a top five defense again.

From previous thread:

I disagree about the thoughts with Toomer and how he should not be the number 2.... He is still clearly the 2nd best receiver on this team. He does not drop the ball, has a knack for getting open and is the safety valve for Eli. He definitley isn't as fast as he once was but it has to tell you something when Eli is still throwing the ball to him downfield.

Smith and Hixon are a great 3/4 combo. Moss, still has shown me nothing. I actually would prefer getting Manningham in ther to show what he can do.

Great point, Andrew, will Eli Manning still be allowed to wear those extra tight pants while playing, All the guess work is now over, yum.
