My hands are clean
Kevin Boss vented a little bit this afternoon when talking about Jeremy Shockey. Essentially he said he doesn't like the way that the media is treating his mentor and that it must be tearing him up to read about those trade rumors. To be fair, for every trade rumor there is a team on the other end who WANTS the guy, but that's not my point here. No, I just want to make it clear that I'm new around here and haven't had much of a chance to take any pokes at Shockey.
So if Boss wasn't talking about me, to whom was he referring?
Oh, probably this guy.

Yeah. Staple's article..ouch
We will have to wait and see what happens with Shockey.
I'm not a journalist nor really qualified to give you journalistic advice, but I will offer that having a thick skin might really help in your current gig.
Who cares who Boss was talking about? There's enough smoke to send out a second engine, so the media covereage should probably reflect the fans interest in the story. If the players don't like it, then they can always grab the nearest air horn.
That being said, I like your work so far. Keep it up!
Staple is a bona-fide moron. I can't stress that enough. I'm so glad that he's gone from newsdays blog...good luck Tom, but the toughest gig to follow it ain't.
Unless someone ponies up a 1st round pick, which I don't see happening, the team should keep Shockey. the Giants could come out heavy, in a 2 TE set with Boss and Shockey on a running down and when the opposing defense crowds the box both TE's could go out in passing patterns. Fooling the D and making it tough on the free safety 1 on 1. Could cause serious confusion/mismatch problems for opponents.
Not to mention Shockey's relatively low salary. No reason to ship him out unless he decides to turn into the white Chad Johnson.
Ralph V. over at the DN is reporting that the Falcons have expressed an interest in Shockey and that they have 3 second round picks. No one's said yet that they'd be willing to part with two of them, but if they were, I'd have to change my mind and say Reese should do it. Personally, I don't believe he really wants to go. How does a professional athlete, and a competitor who's as clearly intense as Shockey, decide to leave a Championship team? It's not like he's burried on the roster. And I don't buy that he's scared. He wants to win. The more likely scenario is that it's all been cooked up by Rosenhaus to get an extension or an increase despite sitting on the sidelines during the SB run. My bet is he sticks around and--Greg's right--we see a lot more 2 TE formations from Gilbride and Coughlin in the fall.
Welcome, Tom! Glad to have someone at the G-men helm again.
TRock,
Typical agent's antics: either get his player a new contract or cause enough commotion so that the player is traded.
Hope the Giants don't fall for it- Shockey and Boss at TE! What a combo!!
regards
Like the frequent posts, Tom. It means you are interested and you care.
I think the Giants will keep Shockey, but not necessarily because they want to. Instead, it will more likely be due to the fact that no other team will give the Giants enough incentive to trade him. In other words, they're going to try to low-ball the Giants with a third- or fourth-round pick, nothing better.
If that's the case, then I wouldn't do it. Perhaps that chip on his shoulder from not being a part of the championship run will get Shockey to return to being a Pro Bowl-caliber player.
i think shocky should go to the seahawks
