You're right, Stapes, the $14k a day will definitely motivate Strahan more than the Giants signing Rice. After the beating he took in his divorce settlement, he probably doesn't want to give away thousands of dollars over this pettiness.

Arthur, I think there is no doubt that you should be given the benefit of the doubt over someone that readily admits to eaves dropping and then broadcasting what he allegedly heard. You are a good reporter and a nice guy (that takes the time to respond to your fans). Keep up the good work. I look forward to reading your future reports.

Seems to me that the Giants are shooting themselves in the foot by bringing in Rice. Once they don't sign him -- and they can't without destroying team chemistry -- that will give Strahan the upper hand in negotiations. It's way too early for Reese to start talking tough and bringing in replacements. Despite the fact that this move by Strahan is bush league, the guy has been a stud for us so long and deserves a little more respect. Would George Young have brought in Derrick Thomas or the like if LT didn't report to camp? Doubt it.

I just don't see Strahan coming back if Simeon Rice does sign with the Giants. If anything, it'll just push Strahan further away...

Like they always say...its a business. Simeon Rice will get an offer of an incetive laiden contract of one year. My biggest worry is where is he going to play? Osi made a few good points about questioning his strength at stopping the run.

Aside from Rice coming in for a physical which he may or may not pass. This move by Strahan is bush league all the way. He signed a contract knowing damn well that the market was going to keep increasing. He got $20 mill up front and gauranteed. The Giants treated him with respect and rewarded him for his production. And this is how he thanks them? Demanding more money when he has only played 17 games in 3 seasons. Sorry Mike, you get paid for playing, not sitting and watching. Which is exactly why the Giants will not give a declining player more money when he has shown he cannot stay on the field the past 3 seasons. He had the whole off season to think about this. And then he pulls this surprise crap right at training camp. Fine his a$$.

I loved Will Demps quote when asked how he felt running with the 2's, "my track record speaks for itself." Indeed it does Will, that is why you are running with the 2nd team. You blew numerous assignments last year, whiffed on open field tackles in which were the last line of defense. I just wish the Giants hadn't overpaid for you to be a high cost substitute.

Arthur, Please comment on LT Adam Koets. The intimations from the media suggest that Whimper has not developed as projected. And while Diehl is a proven solid guard he is still a question mark as a LT. Hence the interest in whether or not Koets will be a long term solution to this critical slot. If the BBI incident didn't occur, as you say, why do you care so much? It's just a random comment on a message board.

Actually Strike, it's a rather nasty accusation that implies Arthur has an agenda, and depicts the players/team depending on his mood vs the facts. His professionalism has been questioned, and he has addressed the accusation appropriately. It was detailed, and in his workplace.

What's your next question- "When did you stop beating your wife"? Seems to me there is someone with an agenda to smear and that would be you. Mr. Staples is a beat writer. He needs to maintain a good relationship with the players for his job. Yet some wanna be reporter eavesdrops on a private conversation then isn't truthful in what he heard. Read the BBI forums, it's covered there. Repeating the accusation here in Arthur's house does him a disservice.
