So, what do you think about Chad Johnson Ocho Cinco?

I'll be writing about the Bengals receiver for tomorrow's newspaper, but I'm curious if you have any thoughts about the young man. johnson.jpg

He has become a somewhat controversial figure during his career (ya think?), whether it be his flamboyant style on the field, his abrasive personality in the locker room, his Mohawk haircuts ... and, oh, yes, his decision to change his last name from Johnson to Ocho Cinco.

If you prefer, simply answer one of the following multiple choice possibilities. Or else, if you care to amplify your thoughts a bit more, feel free.

The Bengals' receiver is:

1. A terrific athletic talent whose on-field celebrations are entertaining.

2. The latest in a long line of misunderstood professional athletes.

3. A locker room cancer.

4. The best thing that ever happened to the Bengals.

5. The worst thing that ever happened to the Bengals.

6. A harmless personality who simply draws attention for attention's sake?

7. A complete doofus.

Chad Johnson reminds me of a very memorable scene in Blazing Saddles (Weren't they all?)

I'm speaking of the first scene in this link:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071230/quotes

Especially Barts last line in the scene:

Bart: "Ooh, baby, you are so talented! And they are so DUMB! "

If nothing else, Chad has given me inspiration, and made my life a little easier.

Now when I tell people that I have been "ocho cinco'ed" from a bar or a tavern, I don't get quite the same look of disgust.
(cuz most people don't know what the hell I'm talking about).

For that, I shall forever be in his debt.

And that's not just my opinion.....from two time zones away.

i'm going with choice one.

the rest is press who need something to write about

I505:

Wow, I'd give you much more credit than that ... glad to see you're still out there. Thought my inadvertent snub of your days in Alaska had sent you over the edge.

Dennis Rodman, Part 2

I'm going with #8--extremely troubled human being, possibly a hard-core drug user. If you don't accept that I'll take #3.

Hey, that reminds me (us) - weren't you going to change your blog name?

Number six. He has played the press for all he's worth. Would have shut up if it weren't for the attention he got.

Just where do you find your story? Consider Curtis Martin as the anti-CJ. The man was a saint and treated just as badly. So, you got what you paid for.

Upon further review.....
Ocho Cinco means "85" not "86"...as in "86'ed" from bars.
Geeshhh, what a maroon am I.

Back to Spanish remedial class for 505.
"Cerveza, Muy Frio, por favor".

He's the wide receiver equivalent of Jeff George. Johnson has amazing talent, but can't put himself behind his team, although he could take a back seat if he changes teams.

What makes you think anyone cares about him at all(except his mom).

Actually 505 ocho cinco means "eight five" ochenta y cinco pronounced "och entay sinko" means 85. Chad Ocho Cinco= attention ho and psycho

Dude is funny and entertaining, and everybody knows damn well that when he scores his next touchdown, you're going to want to see how he celebrates it. He's got a knack for getting attention and getting laughs. He's been the most creative entertainer in this generation of football players, not to mention the fact of his talent and hard work.

And my guess is that the media will want to have it both ways, as usual. They'll fall all over themselves reporting on the guy, showing and reshowing his clips, then eventually shoot him down as being selfish or a bad teammate or a cancer. I suppose it comes with the territory. I think he's funny as hell, and 'good for the game'.
