NFLPA executive committee to have emergency call
According to a person with knowledge of the situation, player representatives from all teams have been given the afternoon off to participate in an emergency conference call to discuss the ramifications of Gene Upshaw's passing.
A successor won't be chosen for quite some time - possibly not until the March, 2009 player representative meetings.
(UPDATE: The conference call will be with the union's advisory committee, so not all player reps are involved. Giants center Shaun O'Hara is on the committee and will participate.)
