Islander505 on all the Brett Favre hoopla of the past month:

"All of the this "F" word stuff for the last 3-4 weeks has given me hives. So instead of scratching, I've been scouring the country in search of Joe Pisarcik, to bring sanity back into my life.

And now I'm enamored by a coupla beach babes, one of whom has made me proud by marrying a 2nd string baseball catcher and the other who may or not be available again depending on whether "The Ring Found in the Sands of Beijing" (has kinduva 40's romance movie sound to it, dontcha think?) was hers or an old Cracker Jack discard.

Either way, they are filling my dance card nicely as I await Amanda Beard's splash in the natatorium (topless for PETA anyone?) as well as the debut of the hit Softball Trilogy "A Finch Chits on the China".

Football simply does nothing for me right now. (Unless Boland decides to release the rest of his Jet's Girls pictures)."

George M. on Laveranues Coles' unwillingness to share his thoughts on the Brett Favre trade/Chad Pennington release:

"Mr. Coles job is to catch ball thrown in his direction by the Jets quarterback, whatever his name might be. When he starts paying the salaries of his fellow teammates, then he can have something to say about moves the team makes. Until then...who cares? Too much concern about non-entities. Just play the game and keep quiet."

Noted Steelers fan Black N Gold on a post about our trip to Cleveland for Brett Favre's introduction to the Jets:
"That's nice Bob... by the way...did you get to see the Browns trophy case while you were up there? How many Super Bowls have they won again?"

(We were going to include another crude comment from B N G about Browns fans - "Cleveland fans aren't known for their brains....or else they wouldn't be Brownies fans" - but we decided Boland might be offended so we left it out ... oops.)

Amanda Beard failed to advance from her qualifying round.....

Sigh.....MAJOR Sigh....
I think I'll have a Mad Dog on the radio today moment now.

At least Ruth and Gehrig are still pounding the competition in Beach Volleyball.
And I've missed what few Finch droppings have been on NBC.

This is the 2nd time I've shared honors with BnG.
If I hadn't met the guy and his OUTSTANDING spouse (LI native) over some cold ones, I might have considered putting a hit on him.
Hmmm...Not sure I originally considered the spouse factor in that thought process.

The truth is, one of the best things about being a Steelers fan is the Steelers / Browns rivalry.

When Modell moved the team out of Cleveand, some of the biggest petitioners to the NFL for getting Cleveland a new team were Steelers fans.

So no offense Erik.

I-505, Dude, you have to get a life (and I say this with a full realization that my life consists of spending far too much time on this Blog) watching thousands of hours of boring Olympic coverage and obsessing over a female swimmer half your age, (break open that wallet and buy her playboy issue for gods sake), just isn't healthy.

You need to get outside and soak up some of that wonderful 505 sunshine! (And maybe I'll actually get top billing in the next comment contest instead of being an "honorable mention").

Bob, I-505 is as generous as as he is witty, his only downside is his penchant for a certain hockey club that can't seem to get out of their own way.

There seems to be an echo in here. :(
Ryan Whitney done for half a hockey season BNG.

Sandy:

I think those guys like to see their names in print.

I saw that Sandy... Ryans probably my least favorite Penguin.

The guys 6'4" 220lbs and avoids physical play like it's an IRS audit.

In keeping with the football theme of this Blog, in regard to Ryan Whitney, I'll recall an old Jack Lambert quote "They oughta put a skirt on 'Em"

Hi everyone, we at the Mets sitewould really like tosee more fans on the Mets Beat live blog during Mets games. As far as Big Papi looking like Florida from Good Times, I thought that Was him.

Darren how did you get from SI.com hockey columns to blogging at Newsday? Anyway, I went to HS with Thelma from Good Times (for real and Donny Most from happy days too) and if anyone, I mean anyone, can tell me how James and Florida managed to give birth to a fine black teen like her, looking like they did, let me know. JJ,I can see.
BNG Mario taught Ryan everything he knows about physical play :)

Sandy, I could live with that if Ryan scored like Mario
