Do people really go to Cleveland for vacation?
Well, at least Boland does.
He has announced on his blog that he's returning to the shores of Lake Erie to re-charge before his first training camp as Newsday's Jets beat reporter. It will, of course, be his first and last training camp at Hofstra, since the Jets will be pulling up stakes for their New Jersey digs shortly after camp ends.
Boland also offered this picture to go along with his vacation announcement, an obvious attempt to connect with his fans as they await his daily dispatches from training camp. A "gone fishin' " announcement, if you will.
Boland's picture got us thinking about Cleveland (which is actually a fine place to visit, although it will probably never escape the bad rap it gets). It's a place we've been to a handful of times for football assignments (never vacation, though). Not sure if Boland remembers back to 1989, but former Bengals coach Sam Wyche made news with a swipe at EBoli's native city.

Let me get this straight. THAT picture got you to thinking about Cleveland? You're odd.
And yes, I remember Wicky Wacky Wyche's proclamation. It made the front page of the next day's paper. Good sport that he was, Wyche appeared in Cleveland that offseason at a charity function where he allowed himself to be put in a dunk tank. And that concludes tonight's trivia time.
I dunno Boland....
Cleveland has some nice STACKS like that as part of the downtown skyline.
With proper wooing, what a pleasure it would be to include either one or both of these young ladies into a personal Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
And who can argue with nice FLATS tummies in the picture?
If only the pictured fish had an extra eye, well that would have resembled anything pulled out of the Cuyahoga River lately.
Yeah, I think that Glauber has a legitimate thought for Cleveland based on that photo.
I can't wait to see Pittsburgh.
There is absolutely no way that is Lake Erie!! The water is BLUE and the girls don't look like steel workers. I think I've seen those girls and that fish on my beach.
