Fassel on hold in Washington; Spags a possibility?
The Redskins have informed former Giants coach Jim Fassel that they've decided to wait up to several more days to name a head coach. The delay could last through the Super Bowl, which means there's a chance the Redskins will explore the possibility of hiring Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo or perhaps an assistant with the Patriots.
It's an interesting twist to an already intriguing coaching search, and there may not be a resolution in the immediate term.
The three leading candidates at this point are Fassel, defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, and Colts defensive coordinator Ron Meeks.
The Redskins yesterday interviewed Seahawks quarterbacks coach Jim Zorn as offensive coordinator.

I'm not the world's biggest Woody fan, but Snyder is awful. What head coach would want this job (outside of Fassel, who hasn't gotten a sniff except from Snyder) if these guys are hiring the coaches? What HC doesn't want to pick his own staff? So glad I
am not a fan of the home team - local sports talk is centered around "Is it ok to 'break up' with your team and pick a new one?"
Bob, curious what has happened to Fassel? For a guy with HC exp, and a SB on his resume, I am surprised at how little interest there is in him. Even before his less than stellar turn as Raven's OC, there was no one but Snyder interested.
Hard to see the logic behind passing over Greg Williams for Spags. I love what he has done with our squad, but this is his first season as DC. Williams has excelled as a DC repeatedly, has HC experience to lean on (it took the Hoodie 2 tries to get it right), and is respected in the Skins locker room. That fact that Danny holds Fassel in high regard should scare anyway any qualified candidate.
Ron Meeks or Buzz Meeks? Bud White wants to know.
Fassel already went through this once before with the Redskins when Snyder talked Gibbs out of retirement...Now he's twinsting in the wind again...Why has his coaching reputation gone south ?
this has absolutely nothing to do with this post, sorry, but this was sent to me at work and i just had to share with the glauber nation....i think someone may have posted before, but i can't find it when i go back in posts....it is all in german, so the language is fine for work....but the subtitles are not...
Go Giants!
