BEAT BOB GLAUBER! ... or something like that
OK, we're all set for the football prediction contest. Let's get 'er going.
Anyone and everyone can sign up and pick the games each week against me. I'll post my picks (straight up, not against the spread), so SIGN UP HERE to be included. (Please note this is a new link -- if you signed up before 11 a.m. Wednesday, you'll need to sign up again using the new link.)
Don't worry about being put on any spam lists or unsolicited e-mail groups by signing up. The website we use is expressly for things like this, and it goes no further.
I'll post my Week 1 picks in advance of Thursday's opener, so watch for it. We'll also try and print the link to the signup somewhere else on the blog so it's easy to get to.
Oh, as for "prizes," apparently we'd have to go through some legal hoops to offer a Newsday coffee mug or T-shirt, but each correct pick wins you a 'ticket' you can use to enter drawings for cool stuff like barbecue grills, Best Buy gift cards, and even a 46" Samsung HDTV.
It'll be a work in progress, so stay tuned. In the meantime, sign up and let's have some fun.

Hey, Bob, love your stuff, but do you remember the Newsday writer who did predictions in the 1980s or so? Something like Stine or similar? His beatnik style and philosophy on betting always made me laugh. What happened to him?
Sure do, Jelly.
His name was Gerald Strine, and he did a picks column years ago. In fact, I took over for him back in the day after Newsday decided to do it in-house. If I'm not mistaken, that was in '89. Not sure where GS is at these days, but I'll poke around.
So I try to sign up... and it's near impossible. "password must be..." Password is already..."
Christ, can't somebody figure out how to make it EASY to sign up for something like this ??? What a pain in the ass.
Easy does it, Tim. We'll have our Internet guys check on it and hopefully work out the kinks.
lets go
I have to agree w/ Tim R, what a pain in the ass!!!!...and I KNOW I've got all winners this week!
The contest is fun, but I see that some guy from another state won in Week 1. Should this only be open to people in the New York Region, or Newsday subscribers? Otherwise, you'll have tons of national people with multiple accounts winning every week. Second, you need some better prizes.
Bob -- where can I find a list of the QB's with the most career wins? With Farvre passing Elway, thre still seems no easy way to find this info. Thanks.
