Entertainment Tonight caught Jessica Simpson at The Bank of America 500 at Lowe's Speedway, where she was about to do some national anthem.

Jessica said rumors that she and Tony Romo went ring-shopping at Neiman Marcus are hogwash.

"Tony and I have not gone to Neiman Marcus - somebody said we bought a ring there," she told Entertainment Tonight. "I couldn't drag Tony in to Neiman Marcus if I tried."

She also said that she and Tony are doing great and that's she's "Beyond the Moon and the Stars."

By the way, that's a Dale Jr. T-shirt that she's wearing in the race-day photo.

And now, she and Jim have something in common: time in the pits, although I'm sure that Jim didn't act like a doofus when they showed him how to change a tire.

Not that Bartman. We've already got enough Simpsons floating around this blog.

To honor the fifth anniversary of what I ashamedly admit is one of my favorite moments in sports history comes this terrific, incredibly well-reported story about Steve Bartman by Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post.

Among the revelations are that five years after becoming the instrument of the Cubs Curse, he's living living at his parents' home in Northbrook, Ill. (serious Cubs country) and is working for an international consulting firm, which is what he was doing in 2003 when he became one of the most reviled figures in Cubbies history.

The story doesn't say whether he dates at all. I'm sure the cuddly Cub fanettes see him as an ogre but I'd think that any female White Sox fan would find him hot.

I wanted to say the butler did it.

And I was close. The culprits were a couple who were housekeepers for the Beckhams.

Monty Beisel is the Cardinals linebacker who recovered a blocked punt and ran it back for the winning touchdown in the upset victory over the Cowboys on Sunday.

At this point, I am obligated to tell you that the Cardinals remain dead to me and that the curse of Yoko Romo is what really caused this play to happen.

Turns out Beisel's wife is Amanda Carraway, a "model-actress" who does not have her own Wikipedia page, although that will probably change the minute someone sees this.

Anyway, SportsbyBrooks calls her a nudie model, and that's good enough for me. Go there for more, plus some heavily redacted photos.

Maybe this is old news, but I don't see that Chicago Norm has posted anything about this, and typically he's on top of this stuff.

According to People magazine's Web site, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony renewed their vows this past weekend in a joint ceremony with Carlos Beltran and his wife in a Las Vegas hotel suite.

Which is all fine and well, but what I want to know is how long was Beltran planning this? Did he just assume the Mets weren't going to be playing? Hmmmmmmmm.

I don't believe the garbage that I'm willing to sift through to find these gems for you. Like Jessica Simpson talking about nesting. She's yearning for a family that includes six little Tonys and Tonettes.

Unlike the effect that someone we know is beginning to have on the Dallas Cowboys, when Kim Kardashian brings her booty to New Orleans Saints games, good things happen for her boyfriend, Reggie Bush.

In the three games that she has attended Reggie has sent a punt return record and scored five touchdowns. Take that, Jessica.

And TMZ.com points out that Saints coach Sean Payton is loving it:

Right after Reggie racked up another 2-TD game yesterday, Saints coach Sean Payton gave Kim a big hug. He did the same thing last week when Bush broke off two electrifying punt returns on Monday Night Football.

Saints Nation has caught on too -- we hear the fans are chanting her name at home games."

Back in Dallas, poor Tony Romo's pinkie is broken but he can look forward to Jessica serenading him to sleep in her own special way. If you don't recall what I'm talking about, just click here and prepare to laugh. Or be reviled.

Like the incessant drone of a TV in the background, blogs chatter with wildly contradictory reports about the state of the Jessica Simpson-Tony Romo romance.

For the record, when she showed up to shop at LFT in Victory Park on Wednesday, she spent time in the men's department picking out items from James Perse and RRL. One presumes they weren't for Papa Joe Simpson.

She did manage to buy a few clothing and jewelry items for herself, too.

Forty-five slices in 10 minutes Sunday at the Famous Famiglia pizza-eating contest in Times Square.

Chicago's Mayor Daley has asked bars and restaurants near Wrigleyville to voluntarily stop serving alcohol after the seventh-inning stretch to prevent Cubs playoff celebrations from turning ugly.

Wrigleyville is basically a residential area and the folks who live there don't want to look out the window to see those "those cuddly Cub fans" (Anthony's term) peeing on their doorsteps.

Nor do they want to wake up to find their belly-up in their residential-sticker-restricted parking spots.

And get this, Daley is threatening to have the neigborhood voted dry if the Wrigleyville bars don't comply.

"This is about the Cubs," said Daley, a self-proclaimed White Sox fan. "This is about where they worked so hard all year to get to. This is not about a lot of fans and a lot of drinking. We don’t want to see any incident outside, because if there is, that whole area will be voted dry tomorrow. Those citizens will get together and say, ‘I’m gonna vote every precinct dry. I’ll even vote Cubs Field dry," Daley said.

That would be a shame, as Cub fans do enjoy their beverages.

Yankees-White Sox highlights through the eyes of Chicago Norm:

1. Tony LaRussa comes to the Stadium for a last look.
Yeah, we get it. Yankee Stadium is closing. One glimpse of LaRussa would have been enough. The YES cameras were trained on him like he was Jessica Simpson or something.

2. Mo Rivera is what saves are all about.
You knew right away that the game was over as soon as he started the ninth. None of this two hits and a walk with a three-run lead K-Rod nonsense. The save moved Mariano into the No. 2 spot all-tme.

3. Ehren Wasserman is the kiss of death.
The White Sox bullpen is stinky.

4. The Yankees broadcast team makes a lot of mistakes when they're talking about the opposing team.
Yeah, but you're Yankee fans, so you shouldn't care.

5. Coke gets the win
I'd like to buy the world a Coke ... and sing in harmony.
