Anyway, wanted to toss this one out there before we start discussing all things Summer League and the new kid, Gallo -- Tha Roostah!
Wally Szczerbiak.
The Cavs are shopping him and his expiring contract worth $13 mil. The Nets turned down the chance to get out from the Wince Carter contract when the Cavs offered Wally for him. Donnie Walsh did say he was looking for more shooters.
I know people say Wally's ankles are shot and his Jay isn't what it once was. I think some of that is true but he also has endured a lot of transition over the past two seasons. He goes from Boston to Seattle to Cleveland and with the Cavs Mike Brown isn't exactly an offensive genius who knows how to use a shooter. Brown would get frustrated with Wally's lack of D, but let's be honest, you don't acquire Wally Szczerbiak so he can cut off dribble penetration.
In the D'Antoni system, Wally would fit in the role best suited for him at this point of his career - a dangerous perimeter threat who can run to the corner and bury the three off kick-outs. And with just one year left on his deal, he's worth it.
Now...what would the Cavs want in return? Don't say Stephon Marbury. Though the Cavs need help at point guard, LeBron would not welcome Starbury. Trust me on that one.
Just bloggin'.

We give them Zach and take back Wally, cash considerations and a pick (if the pick holds up the deal, give them Zach and run)!!!
what up alan,
pookie from new jack city of course. lol, reading your blog is like listening to one of my boys talk, i swear.
I'd trade them Randolph for Szczerbiak but they wouldn't.
Give 'em Zack and anything else they want not called David Lee.
I'd even go to this extreme:
Knicks get Wally and Big Ben
Cavs get Zac, Curry and Crawford
(maybe some tweaking needed with cash and pics)
hey alan, what do I win:
new jack city.
chris rock as pookie.
i'm not interested in wally joining the knicks depite the fact that you might know him since he's from long island.
i used to think he was a solid player but now he's beginning to look like a journeyman at the decline of his career.
just bloggin'
Wally Szczerbiak?
Come on Alan! Zach will be viable this year while Wally collects his AARP Card. You guys will sing a different tune once Zach is "Coached." Curry or Jerome James .....I'd say yes!
But 25 Year old Zach for 49 year Walley???? What are you smoking? Better yet lets bring back Pat Cumings!!!!!
"i am salty" won fair and square, didn't see that.
but yeah, anyways, Wally? No.
Ok give up on the idea of Wally coming to the Knicks with his expiring contract...Why, Why would the Cavs help the Knicks be in any position to bid for Lebron, consider that... They would only do it if the deal ensures that James stays past 2010 and I dont think we have the players that can do that... If I'm the Knicks of course, I make the trade...Wally and a pick for Zach...
Make the trade!!!!
I love Zach but we need to get under the cap.
Then again, I would like to see how the players we have can play when they are coached by Dantoni.
Zach is not a runner but he's to talented to just write off.
If he can adjust his game I say keep him.
Besides, I would rather trade Jamal or Curry before I trade Zach.
Man I wish we could've made a run at Ellis but I understand Walsh's plan.
I think Walsh's 2010 plan is EXCELLENT!!! Think about who is available....
Lebron James
Dwayne Wade
Amare Stoudamire
Chris Bosh
Plus it's Kobe's opt out year if I'm not mistaken.
If we get under the cap, we'll have the chance to sign one maybe two players off that list.
Way to go Donnie!!!
Bout time we know what we're doing and we finally have a plan.
"Mama I smoked the TV"
Said by a now well known actor in another underrated roll.
All,
The player that the knicks are shopping the most is Lee. He doesn't fit the new system. Zach will because he can play pick and roll backetball and hit the 15-20 footer. So regardless of what you are reading Lee is the odd man out. On top of that the knicks feel like jefferies can give you the samething that Lee does. Nobody gives use the offensive performance in the post the zach can. He's also the best shooter on the team from 15 feet.
bye bye Lee
He's nothing more then chad pennington anyway.(an over-valued player because NY fans need someone to cheer for. Ny fans don't like the thug image so the value of these guys go out the roof.) Then once the teams start to perform the fan notice that the players that they cheered for the most game are 1 deminsional.
Listend to these staement "Chad has no arm but he's a smart quarterback.
"Lee has no jumpshot but he's a great rebounder and he's a smart player"
Zach for Wally in a heart beat. Zach is a bad attitude. he may be talented but he drags down the players around him. Wally may be washed up, but not completely. He's a great guy to come off the bench and have hang around the perimeter as a deep threat as you send curry down low or have jamal drive to the hoop. Take some pressure off. I think that could work. And if it doesn't he's off the books next year. Cap relief is the name of the game right now. It's the only way we'll be able to bag any of the big name players everyone is clamoring for.
Wally is a STIFF. The poster "Knicksmyteam" put it as simple as it can be told! Zach is our best 15-20 foot shooter...plus he can board! Von Wafer can put it in the hole a lot better than Wally and he'd be the lowest paid player on the Knicks. Dump James and let Wally retire!
@ DaVonn
2010 is a pipe dream.... by then we will be talking about waiting to get ...Westbrook, Arthur, Love, Bayless or Augustin...and Walsh will be dead or booed out of the Garden!
All the knick personel got phyisical check ups yesterday....
and the Doctors advice to Walsh? The MD stated...
"Don't buy Green bananas"......
"Zach will because he can play pick and roll backetball and hit the 15-20 footer."
I watched 82 knicks games last season, where were zach's pick and roll skills during that stretch?
zach is not the only problem, and if they move curry first instead of zach I won't complain.
walsh is going to gut this team. most expensive 23-win team in the history of nba.
three or four survivors tops by the time 2010 comes.
zach for wally.. do it in a second.. it really makes sense for both teams.. the knicks get cap relief and open the middle for curry and cuts the logjam at PF
cleveland gets a legitamate inside out player to make a real push while they have lebron.. the cavs dont have any real money commitments in 2010 so its no big deal for them. they have to make a run right now to try to KEEP Lebron interested..
"and Walsh will be dead or booed out of the Garden!"
What type of phony piece of garbage are you to type something like that on here?
tough to imagine what zach's trade value is at this point. remember what the knicks gave up to get him: a backup PF who sucks, and a bad contract that expired two years after the deal.
after his year in NY, his value can only be lower.
might not be a bad idea to give him a year to get his stats back up. and nobody ever complains while playing for Coach D, so his attitude issues shouldn't surface. maybe he'll have some value at the trade deadline.
yo alan, this homie thing is going way too far. you trying to sell more than your share of papers for the new boss? wally frikin' szerbiac. is he still in the league? you guys from the same frat, or what?
give me a break dude, i've too much respect for you to come home and read this dribble.
just bloggin' dude.
btw fellow fixers,
i've been writing for weeks that lamar odom is there for the having (zbo). tonight we see the lakers appearently offering him to the kings for artest. assuming that falls through, can zbo be far behind?
What type of phony piece of garbage are you to type something like that on here? Posted by Jackie J. | July 10, 2008 23:59
Give me a break and stop pizzing into the 2010 wind! It might blow back in your face! BTW are you Jackie or Tito Jackson?
OK, You must be Jermain Jackson....there's grease all over my damn screen!
don't you worry about me. I'll tell you about yourself though dawg. you are not a knicks fan talking about our president dying. you are a phony ass knicks fan son take your sh1t and leave this place now before you shame yourself some more. you talk about piss and the gutter cuz that's all you is son.
Sorry Jackie J. ,
I didn't realize you went to Harvard!....NOT!
Wally to the KNIX,,,, i go to wallys high school his jersey sits in my field house...............we could give the cavs say nate and malik.....lebrons a huge nate fan
Donnie Walsh recently turned 72 and had to choose a new primary care physician for his Medicare program. After two visits and exhaustive lab tests, he said I was doing 'fairly well' for my age. A little concerned about that comment,Walsh couldn't resist asking him, "Do you think I will live to be 80?"
He asked: "Do you smoke tobacco or drink alcoholic beverages?"
"Oh no," Walsh replied. "I don't do drugs, either."
"Do you have many friends and entertain frequently?"
Walsh said, "No, I usually stay home and keep to myself."
"Do you eat rib-eye steaks and barbecued ribs?"
Walsh said, "No, my other doctor said that all red meat is unhealthy!"
"Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf, sailing, hiking, or bicycling?"
"No, I don't," Walsh said.
"Do you gamble, drive fast cars, or have a lot of sex?"
"No," Walsh said. "I don't do any of those things."
He looked at Donnie Walsh and said, "Then why do you care?"
Wally for Zach in 1.2 seconds...
I doubt the Cavs wanna do this, b/c they have all coachable, character guys since they jettisoned Larry Huge.
But if for some reason they feel froggish, let them leap by all means.
The team is currently a sky-high price dog and pony show...
If the sixers showed anything last year, its that addition by subtraction is a real thing... By moving Zach, we get rid of our worst contract (marbury is gone soon anyway, all other lousy acquisitions don't make all that much).
Best case scenario, Wally will be an OK player in a D'Antoni system that keeps creaky knees and ankles in stride, which did wonders for Grant Hill, and Amare coming off his micro fracture... Worst case scenario, he rides the pine, but shows up ready to go in... It doesn't even matter that much... With the Atlantic filling out the way it is, we're already playing for ping pong balls and cleaning house.
Having cap space is not strictly a 2010 plan, it's about being able to, at some given point, to get some players over here that aren't being exiled by their team, and aren't hissy fitting their team into trading them...
Last quote from Donnie Walsh at the most recent press confernce:
"My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.
Also, my memory's not as sharp as it used to be."
Hey Alan,
Any chance of barring the dirtbag Peaceman? He's soiling your great blog.
@Peaceman - Show some respect fool.
Get rid of Crawford? In Mike D's system? With Duhon running the point, that is plain crazy. He'll be our leading scorer and break 20ppg this year.
Agree that Walsh is going to gut the team. I don't know about the Italian Stallion though. It feels as though we are far removed from what NY basketball is about, and even if Mike D's system gets us a few more wins (30 would be considered a success at this point), it feels like we are selling our soul to get it.
I'll wait to see if the Euro can really play, or if he turns out to be a waste of a pick that we'll regret not taking all the guys that were available at that point in years to come. But priority list for me:
(1) Marbury got to go
(2) Curry got to go
(3) Zach got to go
(4) Clear as much cap room as we can to make a run at anyone with heart, defense and rebounding
On a plus, I think Duhon is the best move we've made in a long long time.
I'm all for trading Zach Randolph and I would consent to trading David Lee if push came to shove. But I can't fathom why all these knee jerk reactions that place Z-Bo here or there is always for a a smaller player in return. The Knicks only have 3 power fowards on their depth chart- Rose (Overthehill), Z-Bo, Lee. WTF!
All I'm saying is that if one of these quick fix knee jerk trades to get Z-Bo out of here doesn't net us a 4 in return, then any follow up trades done this off season or during the season better net us a player at the 4 spot.
OBTW what's the consensus on when Nillo or the Roostah will be ready to play the 4?
Ban Peaceman because he quoted Walsh and doesn't consider people gods because their the fresh new (old) face in town.
What sort of sameocracy is this!

Keep it Poppin!
The thing about 2010 being a pipe dream depends on what calibur off product the Knicks will have to show the prospective 2010 free agent class at the end of the 2 year waiting period.
To that end it might be a pipe dream if there isn't measured improvement and the team shows signs of being a few free agents away from contending for some shiny stuff.
All the rest is merely towing the company line.
My expectations for this year are marginal, and that is what is fair considering the reconstruction of this team that must take place.
Shout Peaceman!
@ sec11rowH
Remember the hypothetical Knicks, Lakers, Kings trade I proposed?
That would be in the event a straight up Odom for Z-Bo trade wouldn't get done.
I think getting Odom might be a solid move b/c he does play the 4 spot, Walsh projects Gallinari to eventual play at that spot and having him play behind Odom might brace him, Gallo, from some of the impact of NBA calibur competition that he will eventually be facing on the regular.
Any thoughts here?
Fixers,
Walsh is a new GM and D'Antoni is a new coach...they should come in saying, "those who play within the system & produce (offensively and defensively) will play."
That should squash any cry-baby antics up front and provide opportunity for our young, hungry players.
Let's hope we get to see more of them this year, then we can decide what we will really have for a squad over the next couple of years.
2010 a pipe dream? Is 2008 a pipe dream for the Sixers?
First off..no explanation really needed but as an ex MSG vendor during championship years, season tix holder since before Patrick and a father who somehow got his kids to love the Knicks.....Dolan has stolen the fun...
Now to bloggin...I'm hopin that even with with Donnie's slow movin patience and wisdom ....he does see fit to "blow " it up while still holding out the Lebron dream...Just move Randolph and if u can't get squat for Steph then set him free...He'll never be free of his demons anyway but give him a shot...Give us a shot Donnie...Set him free...
Hey, Wally World would be kinda fun but we do need a stopper...Any ideas???? Wasn't Jeffries supposed to be a stopper??Who exactly has he stopped??? I'm on the fence about keeping Curry as a " Beast in the East", but who am I kidding....ditch him too...blow the sucker up ...
I'd trade any of the big contracts on the roster, including Zach Randolph and Eddy Curry, for Wally Szczerbiak. He's an EC and he's the perfect SF for Mike D'Antoni's system.
Who cares of Wally Szczerbiak can't play? It's his expiring contract they are after. Not his talents. You're not getting talent back by trading a cancer like Zach Randolph.
This blog is funny. The only reason people want to see Zach leave is because of Lee.
Zach did nothing wrong in NY. In all Honesty, you can make the argument that if the knicks played with a true point guard on the floor last year, Zach could've had allstar numbers. He had 18 and 10 without a point guard on the floor.
Think about that!
All of his shots he had to create on his on. Also its rare for him to have a bad shooting night. I do understand that you need defense, but you also need to score points. Look at any good team in the league and they don't have people like Lee at power forward. The all have dominate post player that demand a double team (Zach). We will regret giving him up watch!!!!
Spike Lee quote "WAKE UP"
To those who support randolph, have you ever SEEN him play? Once somebody gives him the ball in the post he hogs it until the shot clock has widdled down or chucks one of his jumpers. He slows down the offense so much. Last time i heard Mike D'antoni had a seven seconds or LESS system.
Someone else mentioned it -- the Cavs won't help the Knicks get under the cap. They wouldn't take Z-Bo.
To those that are still arguing against the plan to get under the cap by 2010, give it up. You're the reason that Knicks management was always afraid to truly rebuild and instead tried big move after big move, hoping for a band-aid fix year after year.
Look what it's led to.
We're not the Sixers, we're not the Celtics. We're the Knicks, stuck with terrible contracts, moody, me-first players, and a lot of other crap that needs to be undone before we can build.
It's gonna take time to turn them around, and a goal of getting under the cap for a year that will produce superstar free agents, is a great first step.
Wally for Zach is terrible. We already have Brandy's man (Q-Rich) as our default washed up shooter with a bad "fill in the blank" injury. We don't need 2 of those guys on the team.
Someone mentioned it earlier, if we trade Zach we need a PF in return and not another SF to go along w/ the 10 we currently have on the roster. IMO that Zach will be fine in the new system. Heck, I think a lot of these players will be fine in the new system. We needed to get rid of Zeke, he was the problem. I commend him for trying to get "bigger named" players on the team (after what Layden put us through building the NY Jazz instead of the NY Knicks) but Zeke never thought about chemistry.
Players want to win and they also need to have a defined role. Zeke gave them neither. He would change his "vision" every other month and had no clear direction for these guys. We're about to see if this squad is professional enough to come to work and play hard for the good of the team. Those that can't cut it should go.
Zeke was the first cancer to go, now Steph needs to be next ONLY if we get some value (draft picks or expiring contracts) in return. If we can't get those things let him play and allow his contract to come off our books.

One reason we shouldn't buyout Marbury is because the Celtics
will sign him in a heart beat! Look at Paul Pierce's quote! Since when has he really cared about our Knicks? I say trade him if possible or make him come off the bench and prove his worth in his final contract year. As much as I dislike Marbury the person, I don't want him on the Celtics!
Pierce To Knicks: Dump Marbury
Jul 11, 2008 4:18 AM EST
Celtics' star Paul Pierce believes that the New York Knicks needs to part ways with guard Stephon Marbury before they can truly start to get better, the New York Daily News are reporting.
"He makes the biggest contract, and he's one of the oldest players on the team," Pierce said yesterday. "That doesn't really fit into a rebuilding plan, just to be honest."
"I'd try to trade him or buy him out at this point," added Pierce, who still believes Marbury can be a starting point guard in the NBA. "I just think he needs a fresh start somewhere else. Marbury needs to be on a VETERAN TEAM where he fits into what they're trying to do a little bit more."
what happened to "just bloggin'?"
you actually gave Wally World some ink today after beta testing it out on us. lol.
with all due respect alan between Vince Carter and Wally World, I think you got it backwards, Wally World is the one who is rapidly declining. Vince is still very much putting up big-time numbers on a team that lost both its hall of fame point guard and richard jefferson.
if zach never passed out of the post how come he had more assist then Lee while playing fewer games? Also who was there to pass to.
Lets see
q? couldn't hit the side of the barn last year
balkman? NO
Jeffreies? No
Curry? Unless its a dunk? No
Lee? Unless its a layup? No
Nate? yes
Crawford? yes
Jones? No
in the words of public enemy " I got a letter from the government the other day, I opened and read it, then said they were suckers!"
cleveland will be willing to help new york if it makes there team better and last i checked they need a scorer besides lebron especially in the post. How bout we make this trade interesting zach randolph, Q rich, jared jeffries, and renaldo balkman for wally, joe smith, damon jones, and eric snow best of all those people are expiring contracts and we buyout marbury and eric snow will be good influence in locker room and we get some shooters for dantonis system for one year and we also let the younger people play and develop even more. Our lineup after next season ends would be
PG:Duhon/Robinson
SG:Crawford/robinson
SF:Chandler/Gallinari
PF:Lee/Gallinari
C:Curry/Lee
that would be a lineup that would only cost us about 30 to 35 million if we resign lee and robinson after next season to about 6 mill a year for lee and about 3 or 4 mill for robinson . we will be under cap and young athletic team and if curry can get his confidence back and start scoring again he will be all star and jamal will be better in dantonis offense and we will have enough money to get one big time free agent weather it is lebron, wade, bosh, kobe, amare or whoever else is on the market.
All,
With Garnette, Oneal-bosh, Howard, and Brand now in the east the last thing we need to do is give up a scorer like Zach or crawford. Right now everyone is chanting get under the cap, but this is NY and if the knicks start off the season loosing 15 out of 20 the boos will start and the Fire chants won't be soon behind.
Also the stands will be empty.
If you look at the way the east is shaping up now. Its going to be the new run and gun conference.
Hate to be the one to break it to you, but Gallinari is a starter on opening night.
walsh didn't draft him to slowly develop him. it will be baptism by fire for the Italian Job.
Like Mardy Collins at this exact time last yeasr, we don't even know if Chandler can walk right at this point.
This one if for Knicksmyteam:
As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I take a look at my life and realize there's nothing left
Cause I've been blastin and laughing so long that
Even my mama thinks that my mind is gone
Power and the money, money and the power
Minute after minute, hour after hour
Everybody's running, but half of them ain't lookin
What's goin on in the kitchen, but I don't know what's cookin
You just don't know what Donnie & D'Antoni are cookin' up...let 'em get the full meal on the table, baby!
Alan,
We should have one goal and one goal only.....trade zach and give anything else up on our team for anyone as long as we do not get back contracts past 2010. We wont be able to offer anyone anything as long as we have zach on our team and we NEED a superstar on this team, give up lee, crawford and anyone else as long as we clear cap space and get rid of zach along with them
"but this is NY and if the knicks start off the season loosing 15 out of 20 the boos will start and the Fire chants won't be soon behind."
how would that be any different than the past 4 years?
"Also the stands will be empty."
the stands were not empty last season and they were basically at that losing percentage (15 losses for every 20 games) for 82 games.
i'm not going to be scared into losing zach. I'm scared to keep zach. i'm not going to be scared into believing we can do any worse than the last three years.
23-wins was rock bottom. we have no where to go but up. time to slash prices on the isiah deadweight and have a fire sale, develop the new acquisitions and look to reload over the next two years.
Lots of traffic on this thread - good to see.
Here are a couple of things to consider: the last couple of seasons, the Knicks were a poorly managed, poorly coached clown show made up of disorganized underachievers. That makes it really hard to assess what the current players are capable of under different circumstances, and has everyone's trade values at a low. Personally, I don't consider Zach a player to build a good team around, but I agree with Peaceman's comment that he might have more to offer under a real NBA coach (although he has never demonstrated himself to be a good pick and roll guy). At this point, Wally might be all the Knicks can get for him, but if he does play better under D'Antoni, he may be worth more a few months into the season. Teams that are desperate for a scoring 4 (Warriors, Clippers) might be willing to take another look at him if the Knicks as a whole show signs of improvement. I agree that giving him up for a big expiring contract has some appeal, but what's the rush to do it this minute? Its not like he will fetch less then he can right now.
Knicksmyteam: Lee shouldn't be untouchable by any means, but if the front office actually thinks Jeffries can replace his rebounding then the new management looks as lost as the old.
Alan - Good luck at the tables man.
Knicks desperately need a shotblocker and since I don't believe in Duhon, they also need a playmaking PG. If we trade Zach for Wally straight up look at what our roster would look like. I think in Knick fans zeal to get under the cap they are forgetting that we still have to field a team next year that can compete. I'm not saying win 50 games but with 7 SFs Duhon, Curry, Nate, Lee and Curry we will get blown out almost every game which willl do nothing for our young players or image to FAs.
Don't think Marburry is wanted in Boston. They have a young solid PG and good team chemistry that I doubt they would want Marburry to infect. Plus KG called Marburry a quitter last year, not a ringing endorsement from the teams best player. But the Bulls brought in Rodman after they had won a championship so I guess anything is possible.
Regardless of how much stronger the atlantic is getting, i think losing 15 out of 20 games by a team with inexpensive contracts is not too bad...still kind of on pace to win as many games as last year...but without the huge money.
I still personally like Zach...like someone said 18 and 10...pretty damn good for this team...he commits a lot of turnovers for a 4, but we only really gave up channing and stevie franchise (and cap space) for Zach...so, i say give Zach a chance....
As for Curry...now he needs to go (doubt anyone takes him), but would really love to see him off the team. A 7 footer that doesn't rebound or block shots...he commits more turnovers than Zach and all of the Knick guards. While we dumping players, how about we try to give away Jared...
That line is from New Jack City and it was said by Pookie the crackhead...AKA Chris Rock.
Who the man!!!
Re: Zach's potential under D'Antoni
Zach might be a prolific scorer, but it's only because he takes a ton of shots. He'll clog up D'Antoni's high-tempo offense because when he gets the ball, he puts it to the floor, and tries to create for himself. It takes him 'seven seconds or less' to dribble around and get a shot for himself.
D'Antoni is all about ball movement, creating for the open guy.
Curry, at least, is the type of scorer that gets quick feeds inside, and then puts up the quick shot.
With Zach, it was like throwing the ball into a black hole. The other players never saw it again, and they all just stood around.
Maybe he'd be able to adapt his game, but I just don't trust him to do that.
Sadly, Wally is done but even assuming he was as useful as he was last year, you don't ship out Zach for a bag of chips.
Zach's reputation is highly overblown - he's been a good, spirited citizen here. Zach gave the Knicks far more than Curry last year and I'd by far prefer he stay - D'Antoni speculation be damned. Zach has value both as a player and trade chip which is more than what can be said for Curry.
Cleveland would do well to trade for Zach but they'd have to cough up some value (and I'm not talking about expiring nonsense - put a first-rounder on the table).
some value, plus a first-rounder???
the knicks gave up an expiring contract and channing eff'in frye for him. you think you'd get much in return?
i agree with you that he gets an unfair bad rap on some things. he's stayed out of trouble in ny - give him credit. but he still doesn't fit in D'Antoni's system IMO.
Oft injured shooter no thanks see QRich at least he plays D.
1)I would rather go younger Say JJ Reddick. Trade Collins & Balkman for him. (Alan predicts they are odd men out).
Orlando was just remarking on not enough SF and 2 many SG. Plus they are going to lose dooling. They get a defense we get "O"
2)I notice this Monta Ellis thing will not go away. I am not sold on the Idea but if we could swing a resigned Ellis w/ Al Harrington for a Zack plus Rose and future pick(2011-12).
3)As much as I hate to say it and I love Starbury. Maybe it's best to buy him out.**Please note it will bite us. He will sign with The lakers or Boston be the perfect teammate and torch us every chance( what e used to do to Charlie ward/ Chris Childs).
Ellis/Duhon/N8
Craw/Reddick
Q/Gallinari/Chandler
Harrington/.Jeffries
Curry/Lee/ James(please retire)
Yes, Zack for Wally. Wally can't play D but he can shoot better than Q-Rich. Dump Q-Rich too. Donnie wants more shooters. He and D'Antoni are crazy. All offense and no defense loses. David Lee is the closest thing to Amare Stoudamire -- keep him, he rebounds and scores efficiently on the break, close to All-Star status. Crawford, Nate and Gallo et al can jack 20-30 shots per game. We want Knick basketball, not an ABA circus. A Josh Smith or Iguodala would work wonders. Let's get LeBron too somehow.
DTR
(David Lee is the closest thing to Amare Stoudamire )
Are you crazy!!!!
David Lee is a decent player on a bad team. He will never be the go to guy or put up allstar numbers. He's a roll player not a star. In NY he's a start for some reason.
David is nothing more the a light (very lighter) version of Udonis Haslem. Atleast haslem was able to develope a jump shot. If Lee will ever become a starter on a good team he must do the same.
@ H Atkinson. You're like a week late on that one buddy. Why don't you take the A train to 125th and say you just discovered Harlem why your at it. Who the man . . .

knicks reject trade w/ clippers for z-bo !!
i understand they don't want to give him away for nuthin' but why donnie, for cryin' out loud.....why ?? here is our chance to dump some salary !!
yo alan,
is this fer real? can you get any validity?
why wouldn't donnie do this? it's like a get out of jail free card!!!
who knows, maybe the clips wanted a draft pick too or something. tough to really judge that one, since no details were given.
AH - what you hearing?
Hey maybe the knicks realize that its going to be hard to attract James or whover to a team with no players. If you think people are going to play for the knicks just for salary you are crazy. We still need to compete. Why leave to go to the knicks if your current team has a better supporting cast.
Brand recently said the if the 76's didn't make the playoffs last year he would still be in LA. He also feels like the east will give him a better chance of making the playoffs.
i don't understand the polarization here...
there comes a time when clinging to what may have been is just no longer in a team's interest.
does a team's brass have to think a player is a bad guy or even a bad player in order to trade him? i get it, a lot of you feel z-bo is better than a different lot of you feel... but it doesnt matter... he costs a lot of money and the knicks are obviously shopping him to get something that gets them closer to where they wanna be, fit-wise, financial health-wise, what have u...
david lee is better than haslem.. dude owned the rookie-soph game.. haslem ever do that? may not put up the numbers zach does, but numbers are not the whole story... lee hustles, moves the ball, runs, is younger, more athletic (channeling isiah here, sorry) and is more cost effective (for those folks that wanna see an A-list name here in their lifetime)
Again, nothing is going to happen in 08-09, so any team that gives u anything future (future picks, future cap space), you take it and run. Let your current youngin's develop properly for a year and take a look at what you got.
While someone packs his bag and his loaded dice for Vegas, the Knicks make news:
Knicks unwilling to trade Randolph to Clippers in salary dump
The Knicks have rejected a proposal from the Clippers to trade power forward Zach Randolph, league sources told SI.com.
Terms of any proposal were not known, but the Clippers have enough salary-cap space to accept Randolph's contract without having to give the Knicks equal salaries in return. The Clippers, seeking to replace the departed Elton Brand, were trying to take Randolph off the Knicks' hands while offering little more than cap relief to New York, the sources said. Randolph will make $14.7 million next season, and he has three years and $48 million left on his contract.
While the Knicks are known to be interested in clearing cap space by 2010 to make a run at LeBron James or other potential free agents, the sources said New York wanted more than simple cap relief in exchange for Randolph. The Knicks appear to believe that Randolph will provide a highly productive season under new coach Mike D'Antoni, which could raise his value much higher than it is today. That's why the Knicks were not interested in nearly giving away Randolph's contract, according to the sources.
Other options for the Clippers would include pursuing Hawks power forward Josh Smith or Bobcats power forward Emeka Okafor, but because both are restricted free agents, their respective teams can match any offer.
Note: I've got to start billing Sammy Zell. I'm doing all the work on the Knicks beat.

Why would they reject that? But wait there's more...
