Gallinari signs

Gallo - Tha Roostah! - signed his rookie contract tonight.

Danilo Gallinari's rookie scale for a No. 6 pick starts at $3,163,680 this coming season and grows incrementally until a $4,609,701 payout in the fourth season, 2010-11.

Check out K-Berg's blog for an interesting email from a man who coached Gallinari and knows him well.

The signing ensures that Gallinari will play in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas next week. The Knicks first game is Monday (6 p.m. Eastern) against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

I don't yet have an official roster for the Knicks summer league team, but I do know of the veterans who are confirmed to join Gallinari. Last year's first-round pick, Wilson Chandler, is on the roster, as are both 2006 first-round picks, Renaldo Balkman and Mardy Collins. Also, Nate Robinson, last year's summer league MVP, will play for a fourth straight summer.

Assistant coach Phil Weber will run the team.

I'm glad to here el Gallo signed on. Can't wait to see what Nillo G can do.

Also glad to see that the 2006 kids Balkman and Collins will step onto the court to work on their craft this early on.

I am convinced that Thomas's weird pattern of underplaying his rookies untill the very end, and then underplaying them in their second year was some wierd form of player hazing ritual.

Guesse what Zeke. It sucked!

I will watch next week to check out "Gallo"
i do like his swagger (they say this cat is still growing)

Damn...it looks like the sixers are on the verge
of convincing Elton Brand to come east.

If this happens the Atlantic division will
be impossible next year.

think of how many times we play Boston and Philly

i hope this signing does not happens.
elton should stay in LA.

Alan have you heard anything about this?

"Said one source close to the process: "Elton wants to go East."

Another source described Brand as leaning "70-30" in favor of going to the Sixers and didn't rule out the possibility that the Clippers could still increase their five-year offer beyond the latest estimate of roughly $75 million. The Clippers are also the only team in the running with the ability to offer a no-trade clause to Brand, something that only one other player in the league -- Staples Center co-tenant Kobe Bryant -- has in his contract.

Philadelphia's shedding of two salaries to set up a major free-agent signing is reminiscent of the move made by Bryant's Los Angeles Lakers in the summer of 1996, when then-Lakers personnel chief Jerry West sent Anthony Peeler and George Lynch to the then-Vancouver Grizzlies, creating the cap space that made it possible for L.A. to sign Shaquille O'Neal away from Orlando."(ESPN.com)

Alan
its on in the atlantic in 08'.
Brand is coming to the East

"Free agent power forward Elton Brand has informed the Philadelphia 76ers that he will accept their five-year, $82 million offer, according ESPN.com.

Brand, who was believed to be a lock to remain with the Los Angeles Clippers after the team courted point guard Baron Davis away from the Golden State Warriors, can't formally sign with the 76ers until Wednesday, the first day teams are allowed to complete signings and trades"

Are the knicks going to be last in the Atlantic again this year?

Atlantic conference is stacked with big men now. Oneal and Bosh in Toronto, KG in Boston, Brand in Phili. Thank Goodness we have Zach and Curry and 6 SFs.

I still wonder how much playing time Gallinari will get in the regular season. It may make better sense to play other guys in the hope that they look good and can therefore be traded away a bit easier, as tough as that might be.
