Rumors du jour, Donnie to talk this afternoon

One rumor getting a lot of play involves the Memphis Grizzlies' pick at No. 5 and the Knicks, who would send David Lee to get the pick, with some other contract-type pieces. This would give the Knicks a pick at 5 and 6 and ensure them the player they want.

Memphis would give up a fifth overall to get Lee, who was taken 30th, but is established. He will cost them some money, however, because he will be a restricted free agent after this season and is already looking for a contract extension.

The Knicks are also apparently involved in talks with the Minnesota Timberwolves for the No. 3 pick, which would suggest they're trying hard to get in position to draft O.J. Mayo, a player Mike D'Antoni and Donnie Walsh absolutely love.

I've also heard today that Danilo Gallinari has slipped down their board a little, but he is still on it. The guy who has leaped ahead of everyone is Russell Westbrook, whose stock is very strong at No. 6. But if the Knicks somehow get two top-10 picks, they have more options. Joe Alexander might be another option.

Though it would be doubtful that they would draft two guards, if they did, word is that Nate Robinson would be shopped and perhaps packaged with Zach Randolph.

I'm at the MSG Training Center waiting on Donnie Walsh, who will speak with the media this afternoon.

Stay tuned....

Now thats what i'm talking about...

Lets make some moves!
walsh is the man if he can pull off this miracle.

Fixers,

You don't built a team in one day. Lee is our only tradable commodity and we are looking to unload him first. What's left?

keep tha rumors comin' al-boogie !! i'm likin' what i hear more N more everytime u check in. i would do both of these moves in a heartbeat. nabbing TWO top-5 picks in exchange for lee is a god-send. tha 2nd one i'd hate to see nate gone before getttin' a shot in tha new offense but to see tha black hole z-bo on a trip to la- guardia is alllll-good wit me playa. hopefully we get our big man PLUS a PG. i have a feeling it is mayo & alexander they want. athletes to run N gun for 48 mins....i'd love 2 land gordon N randolph tho.

two top-6 picks sorry ....

Shaq punks Kobe.

Again.

Kobe, the chump that keeps on choking.

I'm sure Donnie will lay his cards on the table.
Is Lowry available? I've heard Conely's name mentioned in a rumor or two.
Alan, how much stock do you put in John Hollinger's number crunching? I like Westbrook, but according to Hollinger, the numbers don't back up using such a high pick on Westbrook.
There's so much conjecture (or B.S.), that it's hard to know what to believe.

I'm a big David Lee fan and would hate to see him go. If, somehow, he was used in a deal that included OJ Mayo, I think Joe Alexander would be a great project. You could keep Nate and also have a strong frontcourt player to ease the sting from losing Lee. That would be a tough one for me to argue with.

The David Lee comment at 16:21 was me. I forgot to include my name. The above would make getting a strong power foward replacement for Zach Randolph very important.

nate the great dont trade him hes a legend

it would be tough to lose Lee but with an oppurtunity to address two needs in the draft I'd take it... id love to get mayo and lopez...

David Lee is a solid player but just him for the No.5 overall pick, what a bunch a ####. Typical Knick, Yankee, Met, Giant, Jet Ranger, article on how they can trade trash for gold.

If Lee goes that is the last straw, won't be a fan anymore. and Nate while fun too watch is never going to be a starter

** tung, "trade trash for gold?" You have to be kidding me! He's one of the best rebounders in the NBA. That was a careless and inaccurate remark.

Lee for Mayo would be the right thing to do. I like David Lee but O.J. is top 3 lottery.

knicks gotta stop messin around and do whatever the heck they can to get Mayo here. He's an elite talent and certified face of your franchise...even if it painfully costs you a David Lee & a 6 pick or whatever. We haven't had "that guy" for so long. Westbrook should be back up plan...what's with shaq & Kobe can't we all just getalong? Kobe could dust off his bongos & go on tour with shaq daddy...I'd pay to not have to see that.

Lee is a very good ROLE player which Mike has no use for. If he could get us a player that fits Mike style of play, great. I like Mayo with a big (Randolph, Brooks, or McGee). We need a bigger shot blocking Lee. To play along side the Fat Boyz. Also Balkman and Jefferies can fill the Lee void.
