PreGame: Knicks at Celtics

All the talk tonight involves trades. Jason Kidd to Dallas has everyone buzzing. Doc Rivers had a funny pregame session in which he said he hopes the trend continues.

“Listen, this is what I’m hoping: I’m hoping Dwight Howard gets traded to the West," Doc said. "Rasheed, Rip, Bosh, all the guys I’ll be coaching [Sunday]. We have to get them all on the West team, too."

Isiah and the Knicks have to be glad to see Kidd leave, too. Maybe the Nets will finally drop to second-citizen again in the metropolitan area.

Wait, they're getting Devin Harris? Never mind.

Knick players are ready to break away for a nice four-day vacation. But plenty of them are wondering if some of them won't be there on Monday when the team gathers again. The trade deadline is a week away.

Gametime is a few minutes away.

STARTING LINEUPS
KNICKS (15-36)
Richardson
Randolph
Curry
Crawford
Jones

CELTICS (40-9)
Pierce
Scalabrine
Powe
R. Allen
Rondo

* - Celtics remain without KG, who, as you guys know, won't be at the all-star game. Kendrick Perkins is also out with a shoulder sprain.

Let's see what happens tonight; last year, the Knicks lied down like dogs in the last game before the break and played horribly.
Hopefully, the vacation won't start until after the game.

Let's hope you're right Don but if I was a betting man I'd bet on a blow out. Hell, most of the knicks can't wait for the season to end let alone the all star break.

Does anybody think dallas needs another center now that Diop is gone. Dampier is a good defender but they could use Curry to come off the bench as n scoring center like Curry to get other big guys in the west (shaq, bynum etc) in foul trouble. Only problem is they dont have anybody to give at this point... So is it possible for them to trade only a first round pick? I would GLADLY take that for Eddy

even though Dallas's pick would be late first round...

@ Sean
With Dallas reported to giving up 2 #1's for Kidd, they would have to make it a pick down the road a few years, as the NBA won't allow a team to give up picks in back to back years (The Ted Stepien rule.).
Right now, I'd take a bowl of hot soup for Curry.

I have notice that when Zeke puts a certain group of players on the floor we play really well the chemistry and everything is there and its a certain group that Zeke has always used and their the ones to always bring us back from big leads like tonight or like the Bucks game. It seems our starting line up should consist of these players and thats:

David Lee
Fred Jones
Jamaal Crawford

The players that Zeke has meshed with these 3 have been

Zach Randolph
Renaldo Balkman

or

Malik Rose
Renaldo Balkman

or

Nate Robinson
Malik Rose

or

Nate Robinson
Zach Randolph

Personally if it were me and you have nothing to loose at this point in the season I would try to make this team like the Suns or Golden State and thats a small fast pace line up:

C..................Lee
PF................Balkman
SF................Crawford
SG...............Jones
PG...............Robinson

Bobby - I agree with your observations on the combinations that have worked best, and the small line-up is an interesting possibility. The Knicks would probably get murdered on the glass (although Lee and Balkman rebound like bigger players), but they could scramble and play the helter-skelter game that minimizes the impact of Isiah's inability to coach. No reliable half-court offense, but they don't really have one of those now.

The thing is, the Knicks are 15-37. A lot of people don't seem to realize how far that is from a championship. Phoenix had basically the opposite record, and they're rolling the dice with Shaq because they didn't think it was good enough. Adding Artest doesn't make 15-37 into a contender. The certainty about the Knicks is that nothing has really worked so far. The most important thing now is some kind of a plan going forward, preferably without Isiah making it. That's why I'd like to see Marbury just expire off the payroll instead of being part of a "blockbuster" trade. I'm all for anything that helps the development or evaluation of those players currently on the team who could be part of a rebuilding project. So play Lee, Balkman Nate, Jones - see what they can do and if they can get better with minutes.

Last night was an old Knicks favorite - get blown out early, then do enough at the end to make it look interesting. I see that the Celtics don't use injuries as an excuse.

goodbye new york losers.

as long as isiaih is running the show, ny will be LOSERS!
