Imagine the twisted psyche that sends a message to someone whose grandmother has just died . . . suggesting he'd use it as an excuse to hang out in strip joints.
This has gone beyond him being a pain in @ss. The very notion is disgusting.
I genuinely think this has crossed a line that everyone should recognize. I no longer believe he should be ignored.
Alan -- That response is unacceptable. What happens if this gets back to Zach? We have no way of knowing it won't. It certainly could. Is that how you want members of the team to think of this blog?
I think Mark should be banned from this site.
How can that be accomplished? Who agrees?
That was a disgusting loss, it was hard for me to even visit this website...horrible
... Mark suspects Zach may be malingering in the parking lot of a Gary, Indiana strip-club, smoking blunts with his peoples ... his eyes do look perpetually red ... Knicks have to defend the point better ... if your first line of defense constantly breaks down, you better be sure you have a stopper at the rim ... Eddy Curry, David Lee, and Zach Randolph aint it ... Marbury looks so much slower this year, like he aged 5 years over the summer ... its time to see what Wilson Chandler can(cant) do ...
Ken Berger's assessment of the game was good. I did apply his last article on Ewing to Alan, my bad.
MARK:
* You've crossed the line dude;
* That was despicably a below the belt shot at Zach. Actually, it's lower than below the belt;
* Even I would not utter such things about my idol Zeke in a situation like that unless I know the facts;
* If your accusations proved true, then I'll applaud you and post a retraction/apology;
* Nevertheless, you are a sick puppy in my book
Conversely, if you concentrate on b.ball stuff, you have a lot to offer as evidenced by many of your postings especially the recent ones.
A wise line from “Lives” on another site:
“The true Mark of a troll is an individual who enters a website to take over the tone and create a hostile atmosphere detracting from the main prupose of the blog.”
It’s like we’re a computer network, with a virus.
NOTE: That’s a metaphor. Fear not. There is no real virus attached to this blog. But the effect can be just as damaging. (DFTT)
I still say DFTT.
Until it wants to talk hoops honestly, sans insults and all the ad nauseum dumb catch phrases (strip away the repetitive junk, and those posts are suddenly calorie-free) and ad hominem attacks, it ain't worth engaging.
It is not here to exchange ideas - it simply loves to read its own words. It thinks it's clever. It's ultimately dead boring. Not worth the waste of keystrokes.
When it gets down to using the death of a player's family member to get a rise out of us, it is desperate. Deny it the attention it wants so badly.
DFTFT.
What's that whining noise?
Oh. Never mind. DFTT.
Anyone who reads this blog knows where our little troll is coming from....
His stance is that an accused black man is a guilty black man.....
He believes all black men are criminals or at least immoral.....they are beneath him and therefore, he has the right to judge them.
Why should these animals make an obscene amount of money while I have to work for a living? our seething, sorry little troll asks himself every other waking minute.
Well, sorry to inform you little troll, Abolition will not be reversed. Get used to the idea of wealthy and successful black men.
Fixers,
People like this exist, cant get rid of them.
All we can do as a society is condemn this way of thinking and hope people like our little troll feel the shame of accurately being labeled a bigot.
Don ADO -- You're right. It can't make up for the damage it has done with all those nonsense phrases and repetitions.
Way too little. Way too late. It's interesting that it has to keep citing that one post at the top of this string because basketball is so rarely the topic. "Look, look . . . there's one. See? I did it."
Let's see a week of JUST basketball. I don't believe it's possible. (It already went back to the nonsense.)
Just Scroll Past. (JSP) DFTT.
I rest my case. DFTT.
“The true Mark of a troll is an individual who enters a website to take over the tone and create a hostile atmosphere detracting from the main purpose of the blog.”
-- Lives . . .
The Knicks were 2-1.
Now they're 2-3.
Is 2-7, or 3-6, less than a week away for a team coached by Isiah Thomas, found liable by a jury of his peers on multiple charges of workplace sexual harassment?
Will the New York's continued defensive woes, courtesy of Stephon Marbury, Born Again father, husband, and self-admitted in a court of law, Adulterer, and Lazy Eddy, unable to protect his home, family, and the Knicks' basket, only result in more and more and more losses?
These are the kinds of BASKETBALL ISSUES the Certain Alleged Supporter of the Knicks (CASK), also known as a Possette, REFUSES to discuss.
wow, who's the star of this blog and the others, the knicks, or Mark?
we're actually kind of doing a poll on Mark right now, God bless him.
As the son of a $2 whore, he never knew his grandparents and can't be held responsible for any insensitive remarks he makes about OPGP.
Mark...first calling Curry gutless for not taking bullets and now suggesting that Zach is exploiting his grandmother's death is too far. It's enough to listen to your broken record: cask's, possettes, cupcake, pop gun, blah, blah, blah, but this is too much. F@%K JSP and DFTT, you need to be banned and I'll work to make that happen. Good bye you peice of S@%T.
To Don, Trane, and anyone else who's had enough of this cancer: let's write to Alan Hahn, the editor, whoever, and insist that he be blocked.
You called me a coward and Don gutless...pretty brave from an anonymous sociopath.
Ken
No excuses for the last 2 games.
If a team does not shoot the 3 ball well on a given night, the Knicks should beat them(except the 4 or 5 elite teams).
We look dominating on offense sometimes and aenemic other times.
We have missed too many wide open or point blank shots all year. We have a good offense because we are able to get a lot of good looks for everyone, but the great teams convert.
I still feel we can become at least a respectable defensive team, but we need to develop some sort of continuity at that end. In most cases our defensive errors are not the result of a lack of effort, but are mental lapses. This team does play hard for thier coach.
We lost these last two games because of our inability to make shots we should make. Plain and simple. Isiah has set them up for success. Its up to the players now.
Does anyone know the extent of Q's injury?
It looked like he hyperextended is elbow.
Ken,
If you can than please do.
Im all for freedom of speech, but this is just a nuisance.
day to day is what I heard nate4prez.
no excuses is always right, but you had nate getting 3 minutes, q out the fourth quarter, the team's best player not in the building (zach) and some players playing their first minutes of the season last night to make up for the fact.
injuries and other problems are going to occur, and the knicks have to learn how to step up and get the w when that happens. so I agree with you, no excuses.
isnt that what they said about David Lee last year......
Hope it really is not serious this time.
What is dissapointing is that Orlando and Miami played terribly.
Miami STARED PENNY HARDAWAY....WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok...deep breath.... serenity now serenity now
bottom line we have to start getting those w's.
excuse me, meant STARTED PENNY F'n HARDAWAY
He sees we're serious, so he's dancing as fast as he can.
He wrote ONE post about basketball and keeps saying: "See, I can do it, fellas . . . really I can."
IT'S TOO LITTLE . . . TOO LATE.
Ken, Nat4prez, Don ADO . . . Everyone:
Re: having Mark banned from this site.
We need to be very clear about why. The fact that he is intolerable isn’t enough. Moreover, this has NOTHING to do with his views about basketball.
Mark has crossed a line.
When he suggested Zach would be found at a strip club instead of his grandmother’s funeral . . . this is sick. This is disgusting. And sums up the essence of his revolting posts. (I agree that taunting Curry when he and his family were held at gunpoint should have been enough.)
Alan . . . please. Do what you must. Canvas others. Do you need us to collect names? Everybody who has ever posted on one of these blogs will sign a petition . . . I assure you.
TELL US WHAT YOU NEED US TO DO.
Gentlemen – I also suggest you contact Alan directly. Then we can be finished with this nonsense once and for all.
EVERYONE must do this. Alan must see we are serious. He must be made to understand that this is different. It’s not because we don’t “like” him, or because we “disagree” with him. People really dislike Ed Drossman (is that his name?) on Knation, but nobody has ever suggested he be banned.
I hate to give him so much credit, but Mark is a unique case. He is universally reviled. He destroys blogs. I’d be ashamed to be associated with this blog if Zach were to hear about what Mark wrote about him.
Mark Must Be Banned. (MMBB)
Speaking of Penny Hardaway being in the starting line-up . . . anybody see what he had to say in today’s Post (sorry, Alan)?
Hardaway claims the Knicks medical staff misdiagnosed his knee problem. And the moment the true problem was found – a bone spur – he had surgery, and has been improving ever since.
After all the medical problems last spring . . . isn’t there a legitimate question about how competent these people are? This team has enough problems to fight through . . . shouldn’t they be able to expect competent medical care?
Mark,
you see, I preceded you on this blog, I preceded you on Knicks Knation, so I'm not going anywhere son of a $2 whore, you'll just have to deal with the fact that I represent here just like you apparently deal with the fact that nobody likes you.
Alan,
Your blog is now almost totally devoid of hoops talk. You have the power. Take it back.
MMBB
Wasn't Mike Saunders the head of the medical staff?
He used to be on the bench. I think he is still with the organization......
Trane,
K-Berg had an interview on his blog with Penny (http://weblogs.newsday.com/sports/basketball/nba/blog/2007/11/get_your_knicks_fix_here.html), and the takeaway I got was that his bone spur wasn't showing up on the MRIs he had taken when he was with the Knicks. He seemed to absolve the NYK med staff for his problems.
Having said that, I still don't fully trust that medical staff. Too many missed diagnoses for my taste.
Sorry, screwed the link. Try this.
funny you should say that; we wouldn't be collectively talking about banning you mark if you ever blogged about basketball.
i'm done speaking to people who obviously forgot to take their meds prior to turning on their computer. nobody is paying me to engage you, so I'll go back to ignoring you as I have easily done for months now.
NOW he SEZ he wants to blog about basketball.
Because now he knows we're serious. And he's scared.
TOO LITTLE. TOO LATE.
MMBB.
Don - thanks for trying, but the link didn't work.
What's interesting is that Berman (sorry, Alan) gives it a very different spin. Look at this:
" Hardaway claimed a bone spur in his knee went undetected by the Knicks' medical staff that caused his inability to stay healthy as a Knick. "
I'm not saying this is the right or wrong interpretation. Just that it leaves a very different impression, don't you think? This definitely seems to blame the NY doctors.
Starburyfan -- isn't it interesting that all of a sudden it says it wants to blog about basketball. After TOTALLY disrupting at least two different blogs with all that repetitive nonsense about juries and possettes and blah . . . blah . . . blah. NOW he wants to talk about basketball? I say:
TOO LITTLE. TOO LATE.
Mark Must Be Banned. MMBB.
Trane,
Here's the quote from K-Berg's blog (sorry about the link):
Interestingly, Penny said the only reason he's back playing is because he was able to get exploratory surgery on his troublesome left knee once he was traded to the Magic and they waived him. It's not exactly another indictment of the Knicks' medical staff -- Penny said a bone spur that was found in the exploratory procedure hadn't shown up on any MRIs when he was in New York -- but he's happy to have gotten it cleared up.
" Hardaway claimed a bone spur in his knee went undetected by the Knicks' medical staff that caused his inability to stay healthy as a Knick. "
This is a bit of an odd sounding sentence by design.
I didnt listen to the interview Don heard, but his interpretation coupled with this vague piece of "reporting" leaves me to this conclusion that is not the least suprising.
The above sentence is an example of how to make a story out of a non-story.
It doesnt neccessarily say the NYK staff was responsible, but it sure does imply it.
The sorry state of sports reporting in this city is not news to anyone and irresponsible journalism has become the norm.
MMBB
even though he's a racist troll, try your best not to feed him.
DFTT
Don -- certainly this writer has a different spin on whether the medical staff is to blame for Hardaway's injury. He isn't ascribing any kind of blame. Look -- If it were an isolated case, that would be one thing. But with all the problems various Knicks have had . . . frankly . . . I have very little confidence at this point. There was something funny about the way they handled David Lee last spring. Also, clearly, Crawford was injured for a while before they picked up on it. I don't remember the details, but the JJames case was badly handled. Why is he having this surgery during the second week of the season when they've known about the condition since last season? Why wasn't it addressed over the summer? It's almost as though they couldn't have devised a worse schedule for his treatments if they'd tried. Then there was the "mysterious" Mardy Collins surgery that we didn't hear about until summer camp opened. With Hardaway, that's 5 cases off the top of my head that have troubling aspects to them . . . out of a roster of 15. In other words, one-third of the roster. That worries me . . .
Indeed, I should put it at the end of every post:
MMBB.
I also think it's important to point out that we ARE talking about basketball.
We always have. And we will continue to. But we've agreed to ignore the dark force on the blog. Just Scroll Past.
MMBB.
I agree with you Trane that there is something very wrong with the medical staff. Too many puzzleing moves.
maybe im a little defensive at this point but, it just seemed Berman used this Hardaway thing to further bash the Knick organization without caring about accurate reporting.
Why the ambiguous wording?
The culpability of the Knick medical staff in this instance wasnt clearly stated for a reason.
All he had to do was plant a seed of blame and watch it grow.
Mark
You are lower than Snake shyt!
The son of a 2 dollar Ho!
Convicted of playing with yourself too much!,
Licking your mother!
You are a lonely person!
You don't have to be!
Nate4prez – Was it an intentional misrepresentation of what Hardaway said? I’m not in a position to say. I’ve always been a little suspicious of crying big bad MSM . . . simply because I’ve seen it used as a cop-out too often (and we’re not just talking about basketball here). Of course, that’s not proof it doesn’t exist. It’s also used by the right-wing so often, that’s just another reason I have a problem with it. But there are certainly a lot of people on these blogs who believe as you do. I don’t know. It comes down to what exactly Hardaway said, and even more importantly, how he said it. I’d love to find out.
What I do know is that there have been enough troubling medical problems on this team to question how competent the Knicks medical staff is.
In general, I think Isiah has surrounded himself with a pretty good staff. At least the asst. coaches are pretty good. I don’t know all of them, but Herb is solid, and Arguirre, and Harter/Hanner (?) did a great job with the team in Vegas. But I don’t know anything about the medical staff. Only what I see. And that makes me suspicious.
Isiah is the one on the hot seat now. Whether or not he can pull this roster together, and turn them into a cohesive, winning team is going to take more than just getting them to believe in him, like last year. (That in itself wasn't easy, after LB, but won't be enough this year.) He’s got more talent than any Knicks coach in a long time. But it’s a roster with holes in it still. It's up to him now . . .
Alan, any truth to the rumor the General Lee was seen sitting in your driveway?
Mark is insensitive and a tool, but he's right. If Zach did it once before, why wouldn't he do it again? You can't ban Mark from a public forum for posting facts, even if he's an ahole
the problem with your logic fred is that you can't assume the worst out of somebody for things that may have occurred in the past. is it possible that zach will mess up in ny? yes, certainly it is. should we assume that he already has? if you answer yes, then you haven't given him a second chance. even professionals can and do mess up in life, but I've yet to see any evidence that zach has messed up yet so in that respect the a-hole's remarks are offensive to me as a knicks fan. if somebody in your family passed away would you want to be asked to see a death certificate to make sure you're not lying?
i find it highly suspect that you consider everything that mark posts to be based in fact. I'd say he's 80% opinion 20% fact, to be generous. he's a flamer. he is all about is trying to piss of knick fans by saying inflammatory statements. if you can't see that you're either Mark or borderline illiterate, I'm sorry.
the reports of randolph going to visit his sick grandmother have been well documented in recent weeks, so this isn't some excuse to disappear from out of the blue.
I’m not convinced Fred is wrong, although I’d like to be. I wonder how others feel. Is there no difference between the grandmother who raised you and “a girlfriend’s cousin”?
Even if Fred is right, he’s only saying that Mark is sick in a different kind of way.
The point is, Mark ENJOYS trashing this guy at the moment the grandmother who raised him has just died. This is what constitutes pleasure for him.
So much of Zach’s past has been distorted, what do we really know about this? When you look a little closely you find out most of his so-called “run-ins” with police happened before he was 17 years old. And that the high school coach who was tough enough to suspend him that year (despite his great abilities), said he came back for senior year and was a model citizen.
If Mark were to tell the story, it would stop at the arrests.
It will be great not to have think – or write – about this ever again. Either way. I still say it’s a cancer on the blog. What does everybody else think?
And, of course, either way . . . DFTT.
... as a person of African descent, i do find Mark's comments borderline racist, but also well supported by genuine hoops knowledge ... i have my own fledgling blog, so do not underestimate the importance of a "troll" who actually knows what they are talking about ... i think Alan knows and understands, that there would be FAR less hits to this site if Mark were banned ... he stimulates responses and comments from those who would not normally comment ... knowing blog protocol as i do, i wouldnt be surprised if Mark IS Alan or works with, or for Alan ... that said, this is an entertainment vehicle, and Mark is profoundly entertaining, and somewhat knowledgable ... banning someone because you dont agree with their views, or like them personally, is cowardly ... and it is not conducive to good blogging ...
On Zach,
There is a big diference between the death of your girlffriends cousin and your grandmother. There is a chance that in the first case he was just consoling his girlfriend since the decedent was actually her blood relation not his. The second case it was his grandmother who probably had a major role in raising him.
On Mark,
I would think it would be hard to block. If you block he could just come back as another tag and start all over again. Unfortunately it is what it is. HAs lead to the total deterioration of FI's New blog, this one may be heading in the same direction. The News thing started out as a strong CONSTRUCTIVE dialog on the pros and the cons of a basketball team most who right are very passionalte about. Evolved into as the British say "Utter Rubbish".
Either way, It isn’t worth any more time or effort. Back to ignoring.
But the LandLORD post is curious since he cites all the reasons it was specifically stated this was NEVER about: liking him, or his views on basketball. You never know what name someone can be using, do you?
Landlord what you fail to recognize is that the troll named Mark doesn't know anything about Knicks basketball. His goal is to antagonize because his existence on this planet is so miserable it's the only way he can relate to others.
He's had his share of wedgies in his life.
The Post is reporting Marbury's days could be numbered. A buyout may be the best option because no one could take on his salary. I wonder if the Knicks would do a trade fwith the Kings for Mike Bibby and Kenny Thomas or Abdul Rahim. It would give the Kings cap space and we would keep Bibby and buy out the other player. It's a cheaper cost to dump someone. Not sure the Kings would bite.
In other blog news: Zach is 26, given millions after a quick stint at M State. What did all you angels do between 19-24 on your modest salaries? If I had a few mil and the world was my oyster. Homie I would put it down. And I would not care what any one else thought. Would I do the same things now as I am a little older? No, but I would still enjoy life and be discreet. James Worthy was busted with a hooker, Magic ran rapid and caught AIDS, Robert Parish is still smoking weed, and Jordan would gamble at casinos between playoff games.
Zach is a good kid and his recent loss will probably have a strong change in his perspective of things. That's the human side of it. He is still the best player on the Knicks and one of the best PF's in the game.
Mark what do you think?
Would the Kings bite? Are you a racist? Are you young? Gay? Do you post on every blog on the internent to get the only attention you ever received in life, negative? Do you you look for information or affirmation when you read the news? You hate the Knicks, Isiah, Black players who have more money than you? What do you do for a living Mark? When was the last time you got laid? The fixers might chip in and buy you some really good trim from a WOMAN if you behave and stop wasting our time. I actually don't read your post. I scroll by them. But I read the others and they seem upset with you. Are you hated this much with the people you come in actual contact with? Just bloggin.
Hey, everyone deals with loss differently, but this is his grandmother as opposed to his girlfriend's cousin.
Night and Day.
All I can be sure about is that Zach plays his butt off.
I really cant believe we are disscussing this.
To block or not to block........
"i think Alan knows and understands, that there would be FAR less hits to this site if Mark were banned"
Landlord,
I started visiting this blog because I wanted to talk knick basketball and get away from all the BS.
And frankly, right now it stinks in here.
word up nate4prez.
