Dave,
Why have the Mets not put anyone on the 60-day disabled list, especially with so many players suffering long-term injuries? Wouldn't a move of this nature allow for greater roster flexibility and depth?
Since Willy has been fired we have seen and heard the following:
1) The worst loss of the year 11-0
2) Manuel called the Shea fans SH^T in not so many words!
3) Manuel called himself a "Gangsta!"
4) Manuel got in an arguement with Reyes that was beyond embarassing on the first play of his tenure!
5) Team is under .500 !
6) Team lost a series to the worst team in MLB.
7) David Wright looks lost and has been sat!
8) Wilpons contradicted what Omar the liar said about when he got decided to fire Willy.
9) Negative press nationwide since Willy has been gone and how he left!
10) Delgado wtill cannot play, team is still old, fram system still a mess, still no bench, Perez still stinks, Santana still cannot win, Castillo still grounds out to scond nightly(4 more years of that lol)etc. etc. etc.
**All you that wanted Willy gone can now apologize....I have said it from GAME ONE ...... OMAR'S FAULT !! Put together the WORST TEAM MONEY CAN BUY !! FIRE OMAR TODAY !!! **
Why won't the Mets "braintrust" admit their mistake and release Delgado and eat his remaining salary? His bat speed is gone and he is crippling this team. Also how about this trade:
Beltran and Heilman to LA for James Loney, Delwyn Young and Joe Beimel
David,
Thanks for taking the time.
Do you have a sense of whether (a) Omar might be willing to blow up this team (trading Pedro, Ollie, Delgado, even Beltran) in a bid to get younger and more athletic and (b) if he wanted to do that, could he get anything for these guys given their mediocre performance to date (admittedly, Beltran has been heating up in the last few weeks)? Even if he wouldn't move Beltran, is there a market for Ollie or Delgado or some of the others, like Heilman, Schoenweis, Feliciano?
Also, does the front office think any of the AA guys might be ready now to make a jump to the bigs?
Thanks again.
David,
Do you think Met fans are cliff jumping too soon? More than half a season left .. Ryan Church still to return, Beltran and Wright not hitting like they should and likely will ..
Delgado just has to go, that's clear, he is detrimental to the team's progress. Release him, whatever.
But I think in general the team is going to be fine, blowing up the team is not the answer, that would set back the team a couple years, as teams need to build a certain chemistry to win, see the 04 Red Sox ..
Things aren't as bad as people want to believe, Mets are 4 out, 3 in the loss column, and have a lot of baseball to play, and plenty with Philly. Dave please comment on this, Are the Mets fans being nuts ? Do you think they'll be OK?
Any rumblings about the home plate ump's (Runge?) actions last night and if there will be any disciplinary action?
Bush league performance by that guy, playing "Im a big man" with Beltran and Manuel.
David, I wanted to know how many 1st career HR's the mets' staff has served up to the opposition this year, and what is the record? I know they have given up at least 6 or 7, and I have a hard time thinking that's not a record.
With Pedro's fastball up to 90 MPH this year, how come he is not more effective?
David,
Great blog!!! What are your thoughts on the move of DFA'ing Vargas and calling up Muniz? Do you think perhaps this is a move to get Vargas back to working as a starter with a future move of getting rid of Ollie?
