Mets GM Omar Minaya did his best to dampen expectations Thursday of a blockbuster swap before the July 31 trade deadline. And when the Mets play like they did later that night -- Tom Glavine's meltdown aside -- it looks like they don't need much now that Marlon Anderson is aboard (kidding). I revisited some of Minaya's history with Sammy Sosa in this morning's newspaper and entertained the thought of Mr. 600 coming to Shea. But asking around the clubhouse, Sosa still seems to be a controversial figure, despite his makeover in Texas, and it would be an interesting PR situation if he came to New York. Just something else to think about over these next 11 days.

PLEEEZE NO !!!!!!
we need to get younger not older. Plus I hate that freakin Hop he does after he hits a hr
You're joking, right? The dude has a .296 on-base percentage. He's just swinging for the fences to bolster his HR numbers. I could care less about steroids or clubhouse presence or any other damn thing. He sucks. Of course the Mets don't want him.
The Mets looking into another spanish player....what a shock
So basically, does this finally confirm, that the Moises Alou signing was a complete farce?
One certainly.....equals the other. Good job Omar.
if we pick up Sammy it will doom us for years
SAY IT AIN'T SO
