Rickey Says Win

rickey.jpgRickey Henderson, employed by the Mets as a roving instructor, dropped by this afternoon to be a self-described "lucky charm" for the slumping team. Henderson chatted with his base-stealing protege Jose Reyes and hung out in uniform during batting practice.

"If we lose, I was never here," Henderson joked.

Speaking of tonight's game, here's the lineup. Ricky Ledee is back in left after Monday's three RBI performance.

Reyes ...... SS
Lo Duca ....C
Beltran ..... CF
Wright ...... 3B
Delgado .... 1B
Green ........ RF
Valentin .... 2B
Ledee ........ LF
Perez ........ LHP

So Rickey?
How are the hamstrings lately?
Why don't you suit up?

Where's Waldo?
Where's Alou?

Could the Mets do any worse with an OF of: Rickey/Gomez/Ledee than they have done with both Beltran/Green out there?

What is Scott Scheoenweis (sp?) on this team? Can someone inform the Mets front office that this guy sucks

Beltran has three hits tonight.....HE'S BAAAAAAACK!!!
Now lets hear the apologies. He led us most of the season...
he will lead us the rest of the way....

Also, the Chicago Cubs bloodletting has begun.....let us form a line to "pilfer" their best players. Barrett was the first high priced dude to go. Padres got him for peanuts. Omar listen to me, make the call and at least ASK about Derek Lee, Soriano and Ted Lilly.
We have the money to take all three. The price can't be that high.

Also, we need to forget about Alou---Willie Randolph must do this as well, consider him a complete waste.

We have to consider Schoenewies to be disabled.
He has a bad shoulder and it requires surgery. If the cubs are dealing. How about Scott Eyre. He has been odd this year but a solid lefthander the past three years with repeated 80+ appearances or Bob Howry who has been one of my favorites for a long time.

A lot can be done, Oliver Perez has been our stopper. When he falters, you have to say or admit that something must be done. First thing, Delgado must be pushed down to the seven hole. That is where two twenty hitters bat. Not in the five hole. He had another o'fer and left like 4 men on. Enough patience. He is not producing and it is alarming to me that when he "does" something how his prescence slows the game down for the Mets. Unless he hits a jack, he does not contribute.

metman, congratulations. delgado is pedro feliz!

Perez is back walking batters. I guess it was his turn to have a bad start after the last gem. This team is too inconsistent. They are looking like an under 500 team....and playing like one too. The Rockies look better. They had hits tonight, though nothing big and they are not walking anymore.

This downfall of the Mets is embarassing. I'm heading up from FLA for the series this weekend, and have a feeling we will be abused by the A's. Thank god Dan Haren is not pitching in this series.

I think the Mets need to start holding some open tryouts for the outfield. I'm sure there's some better prospects in Brooklyn and Queens that could fill those LF and RF slots.

Second spitter, tell Armando Benitez we said hello.
