Into the quad

Carlos Beltran has been bothered by a quad strain for a while now and hasn't been shy about pointing out how it has affected his game. Doesn't it seem like Beltran's legs have been an issue ever since he signed with the Mets? With that in mind, I find it interesting that Willie Randolph hasn't used him as the DH in any of the team's games against the American League yet (not sure of what tonight's lineup will be). I know the Mets are short on outfielders, but is Willie trying to give Beltran a message by not giving him a partial day off?

As in the past(05)when Beltran was injured his hitting dropped down profoundly.

And evidently it is now happening again.

So why is he playing?

The Mets problem? Welcome to the American League. They are a perfect fit for the national (Triple A) League with their collection of aging (Delgado, Alou, Glavine, Hernandez) and over rated (Beltran)players.
They will (W)right this ship once the pressure is off and they play their normal National League patsies.
Time for Omar to give his young core (Wright, Reyes)of players a little more support.

Mets need to WAKE UP!

Enough of this already.

1) The Mota Factor - since Mota has returned - season has gone down down down....too quickly. What has he done?

2) Schoenwies and his 3 year deal - nice to be protected financially...but he is not protecting his team...send his to New Orleans for help a la Steve Trachsel a few years back

3) Carlos 'B Square' - since Carlos D became a Daddy - it seems his mind is off the game as much as his bat is off the ball. Send him home to Puerto Rico for a week to be with the family and rejuvenate him
Carlos B - needs to have some adrenilin....spend time w Reyes or someone. He is too good a player to accept mediocrity from himself

4) Julio Franco - if they want him around for his presence - make him a coach

5) Castro - we need his bat, make him the first pinch hitter and use Franco's spot on the roster to bring up another catcher or teach Gotay how to squat.

6) Glavine - stop complaining about your teammates and show by example on the field

7) Omar - Wake Up Call - Dont EVER EVER EVER go on the cover of Sports Illustrated - what were you thinking??

8) Willie - Leaders Lead - and Managers Motivate = Your team needs this now Willie - Lets see your best come forward.

The Fans, The City and the Team expect more than what appears like a lackadaisical effort which is all we have seen for the last three weeks.

Please can we stop with the Mets being an elite team. They can't beat the best the AL had to offer. And they haven't even played the Red Sox. They are lucky to be in the weak NL. With this pitching we should be happy they are in first.

Why wouls Beltran DH? The only thing he is good for is the field. he is still one of the best center fielders in the majors, but his bat is killing the team. Him and Delgado really need to get things going in the next week.

Beltran is waste...he's such a baby. Just put his *ussy ass on the DL and put someone up he can actually get a hit or run out a ground ball... 5 tool player my ass

Minaya built a team to win a 40 game season. The baseball equivalent of 70 & 80-year olds that he acquired can't make it without injury and diminishing skills.I'd rather see the kids brought in than the recycling of Ben Johnson and Ricky Ledee. And is David Newhan far behind? If Minaya is truly a genius he should trade Carlos (Mr. Enthusiasm) Beltran I've seen Joe Dimaggio and he's no Joe D!

Hmmmm......Brian Bannister just won his 4th straight game for the Royals.....and what did we get for him? Relief?

Hey Brian,
Hey Shawn,
Hey Eric.......
GROW UP ALREADY.
You wanna bash Beltran?
Are you kidding me?
Why don't you stick to a legitimate "Christ Figure" before you start passing around the nails and the hammers.
Carlos Beltran is a major performer and a Hall of Famer, first ballot.
We need another outfield bat, Carlos Gomez is NOT A CORNER OUTFIELDER!!!!! I said it a long time ago, when you have YOUR corner outfielder batting eighth---you got problems, There is no way in hell a "championship" team has a corner outfielder battin eighth, unless they are a lucky aberration. Mets need thump on the corners and Delgado must be dropped further in the order or benched.
If you put Carlos Beltran on a cross, please be sure you are not plastering our most dynamic player.

RVS.....You grow up too!

ts stop depressing yourself-beltrance a hall of famer? why do you think the yankees took a pass when he offered to take 19mil less than what the mets offered? like i said last year when the mets, media and that pervert mr met all where hyping that bum milledge-gomez was a keeper who was better than milledge and i can say now that this kid has more upside than your first ballot hall of famer

norton (OH MY LORD ARE YOU A FEW HAM SANDWICHES SHORT OF A PICNIC BASKET) but be that as it may....get your facts straight. Yankees passed on Beltran ? Yeah right. It was a choice to hold on to older players, nothing more. And in turn, they go and sign Johnny Damon to a ridiculous contract to counteract the idiotic mistake they made. They would love to have beltran over damon right now. So please stop the rhetoric because the mets had a bad two weeks. They are still in first, right?

Oh, and you bet. Carlos Beltran is a FIRST ballot hall of famer. Unanimous.
Look at the numbers.
Oh, and then look at the defense.
Oh, and then look at the age.
Nuff said....

Long suffering, please don't give me this Ambiorix Burgos revisionist history. I was the only one pining for Bannister during the winter. Everyone was happy with that trade. I was the only one who hated the deal. I was killed for it by my peers, and yes---when Bannister got sent down for conditioning after a rough start in 2007 I was eating crow with ketchup and looking foolish.
But I new Bannister would be back, and I always felt that once he got his a** in shape he would rock it out.
The return we got in Ambiorix? I am sorry but I always saw Armando Benitez Part II. And now Ambiorix is going to have Tommy John surgery. So Bannister should be a Met right now, he was well thought of and liked. At the very least, he could now be a trading chip for a BIG monster bat right now. Either way, I am glad that I am proven right. I would love it for Bannister to win 10. He is a really great talent in my book. "Curve balls like his do not grow on trees".

OK, Bannister gave up 4 runs in 5 innings in winning, which wouldn't work in most of the recent Met games, but he has had a winning record this year and last.

Whoa! Beltran in the Hall of Fame. Hey, I love the way he hit last year and has had some good home run years and a great first 2 months but he is hardly a 300 hitter and hasn't really put up Hall numbers. Rowand of the Phillies is having a much better year so far and Andrew Jones has more homers, even with the poor year he is having at bat. Beltran's performance this year doesn't warrant his lead on the All Star ballot.

Was Gary Carter a .300 hitter? Hall of Fame.
You would rather have Aaron Rowand?
Be careful of "band box" numbers....it will hurt you when you make a case for offensive numbers from a player.

Andruw Jones is no longer a great centerfielder. He is average defensively, has been for the last 4 years.

ts-your assault of the truth is an indictment of your baseball ignorance....
if you did some fact checking you would of found beltrance did offer to sign with the yankees for 19mil less than what the mets offered.....
go back to your stamp collection you buffoon.

"norton" what is a "beltrance"?
That must be what you are in when you are watching Carlos Beltran--a trance.
You argue for Andruw Jones? His put outs have been declining at an "alarming" rate the last 4 years. Answer: he no longer reads or covers the ground well anymore.
But I know what this is about "mighty norton". You just cannot "forgive" Carlos Beltran for looking at strike three against Wainright in the NLCS,
Isn't that right Norton?
Do you have a vendetta against Beltran for one at bat?
Let it go and recognize the player you have in Beltran. He will be one of the all time great centerfielders when he is done.

Where's Waldo.
Where's Alou?

ts-what a buffoon-i never mentioned jones i said beltrance offered the yankees a 19 mil discount and that gomez has more upside than beltrance but since you brought it up---beltrance since he's been with the mets has 66home runs and has 232rbi's--jones over the same time period has 103 home runs and 299 rbi's
