No Fans of Flushing

surf.jpgMaybe this will change when Citi Field opens in 2009, but according to a poll in this week's Sports Illustrated, it appears that players do not harbor any secret desire to make Shea their home.I can understand San Diego -- who doesn't love Southern California -- and the Yankees and Red Sox make sense, too. But Atlanta and St. Louis? No fish tacos and no surfing. What's the attraction?

SI Players asked 464 MLB Players: “If you could play for any major league team other than your own, which one would it be?”

San Diego Padres 10%
New York Yankees 10%
Atlanta Braves 10%
Boston Red Sox 8%
St. Louis Cardinals 7%

FAST FACTS Poll taken just before the start of the season.... Every team received a vote except for the Washington Nationals.... The Detroit Tigers, last year’s AL representative in the World Series, received just one vote, the same as the Kansas City Royals and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.... The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (seventh, 5.5%) edged the L.A. Dodgers (eighth, 5.2%).... More than 18% of players 27 years old or younger voted for the Braves.

Yeah right, I am sure all the hitters in the league are flocking to play in Petco park.

Notice Cincinnati Reds are not there. Wonder why?
Maybe they should fix their iditic stadium ( THE NEW COORS FIELD).
Brandon Phillips....8 HR
A. Dunn.............11HR
ALEX GONZALEZ (Yes that Alex journeyman)......7HR
Ken Griffey...........9HR
Josh Hamilton (Mr. Rehab)...8 HR
David Ross............4 HR

I HEARD THE BATBOY JACKED ONE OUT OF CINCY TOO.

After this performance tonight by your Muts, any further questions why Atlanta is tied for the top spot? I don't know NY Met fans, we just might own you this year...

Tamajerk: I must admit, after having the great pitching all year long, as a Met fan, I actually feel very upset about our last two ca ca pitching performances. I am spoiled. The last game against the Yankees and tonight. However, after I calm down and come back to reality, it occurs to me that the feeling of panic I had for two games, is what BRAVE FANS FEEL EVERY GAME BECAUSE THEIR PITCHING STINKS.

CARLOS DELGADO:
Another O'fer
One Strikeout.
Three left on base.
Now batting .209
It is May 22nd folks.
So does this mean Carlos Delgado won't be making the allstar team unless his peace-activist friends stuff the ballot box for him? Hmm? I guess he'll be home eating empanadas that night, because not even an epic surge in questionable voting can hide his failure.

Maybe playing for Bobby Cox is the attraction. Every former player said they absolutely loved playing for him.

Even before logging on I knew that Tomajerkin Guy would have been here. But I realized driving to work this morning, the Braves may have the upper hand head-to-head, but they'll never really be a factor in the division because they still have 9 more games against those pesky Nationals.

Is it really a surprise? Braves fans don't have the testicular fortitude to show up when their team is down. Like, for instance, when the Mets take the next two in the series, we won't see this jerk for another month.

"...but they'll never really be a factor in the division...". What?!? How does being 27-18, 2nd place, 2 games back in the loss column and owning a 5-2 mark against the Muts not be a "factor". Be nervous, Mut fans, be nervous. I think the Braves own you this year and the thought of seeing the Braves 11 more times this year and a potential match-up in the NLCS are making various body parts tighten up on Willie's & Omar's boys.

They at this point hold a very fortunate advantage over us. But they can't beat the Marlins or the Nationals. The only reason the Braves are not 7 games out already is because of the luck they have had against the Mets thusfar. Trust me Sparky, by the time August rolls around they WILL NOT BE A FACTOR IN THE DIVISION. PERIOD. WRITE IT DOWN. CALL ME IN 2 MONTHS AND APOLOGIZE.

where were the mets fans when art howe was manager? that's right, in da bronx. yankee fans outnumber mets fans 5-1 in the city.

This is the real Tomahawkin' Again...wow, you Mut fans are absolutely freaking out over losing 5 of 7 to us so far, huh? Relax, it's only May. Have fun with this, it's going to be a great pennant race. Wow, we're really in your guys heads, aren't we (plus, whoever maintains this blog for Newsday is doing a lousy job by allowing that last post to still be on this blog. You're going to get fired).

I guess the cencorship patrol missed that last "fake" tomahawkin post.
But regardless, tomahawk, you are still a front running butt kisser. Where were you last year when the Braves nosedived?
It is always that way.
People talk, but never admit they are wrong later.
Tomahawk----I expect you to man up and apologize for the Braves pathetic play later. And also, please come back and explain to us how Andruw Jones tanked the whole season like a punk.

Tomajerk: there is going to be someone fired around here....your therapist.
Also how much you wanna bet that Roger McDowell will not be asked to return next year. Because he has been unable to do the job? Of course. But also because
you Atlanta people just don't understand the interesting perplexities of performing a "hotfoot".
He is a genius.

Mr. Met, go back to the Yankee blog.
We know who you are.
Stop spewing your insane drivel on this link and
go back to being a speechless, big headed, mime
with no talent.
You have no hair.
You wear white glove in August.
We are who we thought you were.
a wannabe Yankee fan.
But the Yankees have no mascot, until then...
keep selling out.
