After watching Paul Lo Duca favor his bruised right hand in Wednesday's win, manager Willie Randolph decided to give him tonight off, and switched around his lineup accordingly:
Reyes ..... SS
Beltran .... CF
Alou ......... LF
Delgado .... 1B
Wright ....... 3B
Green ........ RF
Castro ........ C
Valentin ..... 2B
Hernandez .. P
Randolph said he also considered using either Wright or Green in the No. 2 spot. When asked how he came up with tonight's lineup, the manager held up a yellow legal pad with his jottings.
"I go by what feels good," Randolph said.

Arod has 10 home runs, and 25 Runs Batted In....
but the Yankees only have 9 wins. In second place.
I think there is a pattern there for a second place finish, and missing the wildcard.
There are no cheerleaders in April Mr. Rodriguez.
Put the Pom Poms down and grow up.
Not a good sign for Valentin.
Despite contributing in the previous game, he bats eighth. Not good.
Shows no respect or confidence in a player.
I believe Valentin is on the way out despite the double plays the Mets have been turning.
Chase Utley anyone??
This has nothing to do with baseball....but sometimes Jessica Alba looks like a good looking man with a wig.
I love Bud Selig.
Mr.Don Sutton (six good years)
In the Hall of Fame.
Mr Robin Yount (5 seasons 100 runs scored, 3 100 RBI seasons)
In the Hall of Fame.
Mr.Paul Molitor (5 seasons 100 runs scored, 2 100 RBI seasons)
In the Hall of Fame.
All Brewers..........
All unworthy......
All through because of Bud Selig.
Has there ever been a more idiotic or self serving Comish than this. Someone please pinch me.
GO METS!!!
Selig is an idiot for certain, but that's a strange argument. Yount and Molitor are clear Hall of Famers. I agree Sutton was a big mistake, but he was as much a Brewer as Rollie Fingers. His career work was as a Dodger.
ts - Valentin always hits 8th. Always. Were you thinking of John Valentin?
Anonymous - I can only hope you are a bitter woman. Jessica Alba is heaven.
Whats the problem complaining about Valentin, He fits in, is doing very well...superb defense, calming influence for Jose Jose and a leader. How many teams can boast having an 8th hitter like him!
Enjoy it, its fun!
Mr. Met
Mr. Don Sutton 300 wins
Mr. Robin Yount 3000 hits
Mr. Paul Molitor 3000 hits
That is why all three are in the Hall of Fame.
kd bart: IF you, and I mean you, played forever and accumulated "boring" numbers every year.....you just might make the "watered down" hall of fame too. Yount and Molitor?
I guess we should look at Carlos Beltran as what he is then. A unanimous first ballot hall of famer, based on his "real" superstar numbers. To this point...he has surpassed Molitor and Yount in significance. Just wait until he adds a couple of rings as the centerfield for the Mets.
"Valentin always hits eighth, always"
May 18th 2006, Mets v. Cards (Valentin hit second)
June 8th 2006, Mets v. DBacks (Valentin hit 6th)
June 28th 2006, Mets v Redsox ( Valentin hit 6th)
July 29th 2006, Mets v Braves ( Valentin hit 7th)
August 8th, 2006, Mets v Padres (Valentin hit 6th)
Sept. 6th 2006, Mets v Braves ( Valentin hit 6th)
Sept. 26th 2006, Mets v Braves (Valentin hit 7th)
Those were just a few box scores I pulled up chico, please check your facts before you post. For a moment you sounded like
Rafael Palmiero " I have never, ever taken steroids...ever! And the test comes back positive, oops.
Are you...Rafael Palmiero pal?
Has anyone heard of where Rafael Palmiero is now?
He went from Hall of fame to Hall of shame in an afternoon. A disgrace. People were talking on the radio about McGwire and how the only place you can find him now is on a milk carton. Is there space for Pujols too? Where do they go.
Has anyone heard of Sean Hill?
OUCH THAT HURTS!
Tom, how old are you? Paul Molitor was one of the most respected hitters in the game.
Not a huge power guy, 3300 lifetime hits. There's a reason Toronto won a title with him.
Robin Yount was an offensive shortstop before they existed.
Would you keep out Joe Morgan because he only knocked in 100 runds once.
does anyone agree that Tom Seaver should have won at least 6 cy young awards? look up the stats. he deserved at least 3 more than he got, and he almost always pitched for bad teams. still won 311 games. amazing.
let's go Rangers!!!!
the mets are the kings of ny!
Seaver was spectacular.
I would buy a bottle of his vino just to say I touched something he touched.
mt, the Blue Jays already had the best team in baseball before Molitor got there. He was an add on as a DH.
Robin Yount as an offensive shortstop? What does that make Jose Reyes? God? He had two MVP years, that is great. But the first 6 years of his career were Don Money. They were only offensive to the Hall Of Famers he now shares a plaque with.
Joe Morgan was a superstar and a complete game changer.
Speed, power, defense, average, RBI, and "rings".
Boy the debate will really heat up when Jeff Kent first comes up. A lot of the voting is based on cordiality and popularity.
Jeff Kent is a first ballot hall of famer.
Too bad the Mets gave up on him. They have never really replaced him except for Alfonso for two years.
Stadium name: Tom Seaver Citifield.
imagine if Seaver had pitched for just a few good teams? he would have won 400 games.
the icelanders suck!
seaver best righthanded pitcher of all time.
How about Seaver and J.R. Richard playing in the same division together? Man,
that was not a pleasant experience to see those two pitchers over 5 times a year a piece. sometimes even in the same homestand.
