Cortisone for Cliff

Manager Willie Randolph revealed this afternoon that Cliff Flloyd had a cortisone shot last Thursday for his sore Achilles before reporting to Port St. Lucie for rehab. What that means for his long-term prognosis is unclear, but getting a shot should hasten his return from the disabled list. The Mets also are in the market for a corner outfielder -- Preston Wilson and Shawn Green are the biggest names on the radar screen at the moment -- so they could pull off a deal before Aug. 31, which is the deadline for players to be eligible for the postseason roster.

I'd rather my grandmother in the lineup than Preston Wilson. He strikes out more than a geek trying to pick up busty blonde. And I don't want to be stuck Green for two years either. His last name says it all. Green. He's a waste of it.

I'd rather have George Saitta than Preston Wilson. And i dont want Green either so i agree with the above post.

The problem is we are locked into winning the NL whether or not we do a thing. and even if we make a move we wont win the WS. So let's just take what we got and not screw ourselves for next season.

Besides, Tucker is a one good little Tucker.

Tucker is a fool. And so is Ledee. They are mediocre ballplayers and will not get a big hit in the playoffs. My grandmother would have more luck in a clutch spot. And who is this George Saitta? Frankly, it sounds made up.

Given Pedro's fragile condition, the Mets should be checkimg the waiver wire for a starting pitcher prior to the August 31 deadline.

Bob "Captain Obvious" Buscavage, ladies and gentlemen.

Bob, i dont think we're going to replace Pedro with the waiver wire in August. Pedro is fine. He'll be there when needed. Also, do you write Newsday Rants?

Mebert, Tucker is solid. He's the Daryl Hamilton of 2006. Gimme more Tucker!

A starting pitcher? No way. Pedro will be fine. I'm actually getting sick of his crap. He's pitched like once since June. He better suck it up and get out there during the playoffs. No whining.

Daryl Hamilton, Tucker is not! Hammy was a .300 hitter. You clearly have no eye for baseball skills if you think Tucker is decent. I don't want to see Tucker in a big spot. If a big spot is around, I want Tucker miles away. He should need binoculars to even see the spot. The spot is a dot to him.

I can handle a big spot. Don't worry. Big spots are my forte. You put me in a big spot and you'll be on your feet within seconds.

Yea, on my feet to leave the stadium. I'll take Cliff Floyd in a wheelchair before you, Tucker.

mebert 78: Sir if you believe that your grandmother can hit and play the outfield for the New York Mets, then I fully support your choice my brother. But isn't extra strength Bengay on the list of "performance enhancing drugs" banned from baseball? Check into that for grams.

Tucker can obviously play. He's a veteran with a nose for the game. And I'm excited to see he is posting here too!

What do you call Michael Tucker's mom?

MotherTucker!

I think Preston Wilson coming home to Shea is a great idea. In the fourth and fifth outfielders spots, what you need is a guy that can get a big extra base hit, especially in the playoffs, and Preston is nasty at Shea! He's old, he gets hurt, he's this, he's that is all fine when you talk long term contract but for a few months at the cost of no prospects, you better believe he's going to be an improvement over Ledee and Tucker.

SO NEWDSAY IS UP TO THEIR OLD FASCIST TRICKS. TODAY: TWO OF MY POSTINGS ARE CENSORED HERE. (what a coincidence?) Am I not one of the people who were critical of BOB HERZOG? I guess that is the price of
being honest.....who knew?

Here is the deal....the Mets go to Philly, come home with: a) some Liberty Bell souveniers, b) a healthy appreciation for NOT living in Philadelphia. c)all the bathroom towels from the Hotels they stayed in and D)
David Dellucci for the Playoffs. Get him now.

Frank D. you should be censored. In fact, they should come with a net and take you away. You and your clueless rhetoric are offensive to good taste

Norton = Mike L = worthless
